First consultants appointment

I have my first consultants appointment for my second pregnancy tomorrow and I'm not sure what to expect.

Has anyone got any experience that could shed some light?

I had a c section with my first pregnancy due to my son being breach.

It depends why you have been referred for consultant led care. For example, l was referred because when my booking in midwife went through her checklist; 3 of my answers were flagged up by the computer to indicate 'high risk pregnancy' and she had to refer me to be consultant led before she could finish the electronic forms. As it turned out, I saw the consultant's junior doctor, explained the 3 things in detail, and got sent back to the midwifery team for the rest of my pregnancy.

I was referred for being hypothyroid. It's been fine - the doctor checked my blood pressure, asked me about my endocrine appointments and looked at my previous scan results. Suppose it varies depending on why you were referred.

Thanks for the replies.

I have been referred to consultant led due to having a c section with my first pregnancy.

I had a rough ride with my x section as I haemorrhaged and lost a lot of blood. Thankfully no blood transfusion was needed. I assume ( though it hasn't been explained) that this will be partly the reason.

It will be. They will just, ask you medical history and about your last birth etc then decide whether it warrants consultant led or refer you back to midwife led. Nothing at all to worry about x

Previous cs definitely warrants a referral to consultant. I have also been referred due to cs in first pregnancy. My appointment is not for another week and a half though. I actually saw the midwife first as the Dr forgot to put on my form about previous cs so she went through all my booking info. Not sure what is going to happen at consultant appointment.

It was fine tbh.

Saw the midwife first. She checked urine and bp and asked how I was. I got my blood results from my 12 week scan and that was about it. She gave me a leaflet on movement and also spoke to me about booking a vbac appointment

Then I spoke to the consultant about my previous cs and my concerns and he just said he'll scan me at 34 weeks (ds was breech) and i could decide what option I wanted to go with so fairly non eventful.

Glad to hear all went smoothly for you. Hopefully mine will be a similar story!
