Light spotting at 4-5wks - good or bad outcome?

Hi everyone. I realise this has been asked before. And i also realise that many people say that some brown/pink light spotting is perfectly normal in the early weeks of pregnancy. But i’m absolutely terrified as i’ve had a mmc before, followed by 4 years of infertility and now at the grand old age of 42 (after removal of some 'silent' endometriosis) find myself 5 wks pregnant. And i know the stats aren’t in my favour! I feel like this is last chance saloon.

I didn’t get spotting when i had a mmc, but a bit of brown/pink spotting is always how my period starts, so it is making me very very nervous.
I know it is pointless going to my EPU at the moment as they won’t be able to see anything conclusive until 6-7wks. I had a tiny bit of pink, orangey, or brown tinged CM last week. Then it went away for a couple of days. Last night i noticed a tiny bit of brown spotting. Also tiny bit of light pink when i wiped after a BM today. I can’t help but think this is heading for a mc.

So my question is (if it’s not too insensitive, and i apologise if it is), if you had some light pink or brown spotting in early pregnancy - did it end in a miscarriage, or was it ok?

Thank you!

I'm due now and had spotting at 6 weeks. Get an early scan to put your mind at ease.

Had spotting/bleeding at 5weeks and then at 6 weeks. At 6 weeks also had pain so gp sent me for (very) early scan. All was perfect. I then bled again a little at 10 weeks.
Now almost 23weeks and all scans show healthy little one.
Hope all goes well for you. Flowers

I had the same, with cramps. Went on to have full-term baby. I was able to have an early scan, which showed a big implantation bleed.

SleepFreeZone · 17/06/2017 15:33

I've had the same and it's gone both ways. Two pregnancies were successful, two I lost early. One was a MMC due to a chromosomal issue and he it's that one I had no spitting at all.

Everything crossed for you OP XX

flumpybear · 17/06/2017 15:33

I had implantation bleeding - try not to fret but are you having a scan soon? Good luck

SleepFreeZone · 17/06/2017 15:33

*spotting

VerityHabitat · 17/06/2017 15:36

I had the same with my first.

He's a gorgeous 13 year old now.

Good luck. Flowers

I had spotting at 5 weeks and 7 weeks. 13+5 today x

Last pregnancy brown spotting with pink at 5-6 weeks which ended in miscarriage
This pregnancy had brown spotting at 6-7 weeks and a scan showed a lovely little bean with heartbeat. I'm now 10+3. No more spotting and this baby is still definitely alive as I am as sick as a dog and feel awful!

Fitzsimmons · 17/06/2017 21:10

I had quite a lot of spotting with both of my babies Flowers

About 1 in 5 women bleed in early pregnancy. It is really common but scary when it happens. I bled in both my first two pregnancies (one even massively) and all was fine. Good luck !

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 17/06/2017 22:04

I had some at 4 weeks. She's nearly 10 now.

WoodlandView · 17/06/2017 22:49

Hi, well I suppose I had more than spotting. When I wiped it was full on red blood. That's was when I had mc at 6 weeks

Elllicam · 18/06/2017 03:33

I had brown/pink spotting at about 5-6 weeks with my last pregnancy. It was there every time I wiped for a good few days. It was fine, healthy baby in the end. I hope it's the same for you OP.

pickledsausage · 18/06/2017 04:14

I had exactly the same (brown then pink when when I wiped) @ 9 weeks - had a reassurance scan and everything was fine. Have had 2 mmc and no spotting. Everything xd for you :)

dippypanda · 18/06/2017 08:11

Like another pp, I've had it goes both ways, it's really hard at this point and all you can do is wait and see. Just take it easy and take care of yourself x

Lanclain · 18/06/2017 11:08

I had spotting from 4-14 weeks, healthy bubba so far at 17 weeks Smile
