Orgasms / sex during first trimester

Okay ladies, bit of a weird one but I'm 10 weeks pregnant and have had severe morning sickness so sex has been off the table. However, had an orgasm in my sleep last night which woke me up!
Anyone else experienced this unexpected pregnancy symptom? Also, what are people's experiences with orgasms / sex in the first trimester? Are people managing it?

Hi Thingy!

The sleep orgasm thing happens to me all the time, not even just in pregnancy. It tends to happen to me if I haven't had one in some time (say 1-2 weeks) I'm also 10 weeks and we're still managing to do it pretty much as normal as we tend to DTD in the evening / day, perhaps a little less because I feel tired all the time.

One thing I did notice is that my orgasms are really strong! Must be something to do with all the blood flow to the area.

Thanks @owltrousers
Gosh, I really would like to have sex but I'm hanging! Too sick to even wash most days! Good on ya!

Hello, had to reply on this one!
This sleep orgasm thing is a 'problem' I suffer with when pregnant and not pregnant. When not pregnant it's enjoyable, whilst pregnant - far from it! In the first trimester it caused me vaginal cramps (which reminded me of the feeling of miscarrying), so I would have to wake myself up quickly and put a stop to it.
Now I'm in second trimester it's moved on to erotic dreams about ex boyfriends followed by an orgasm leading to a rock solid tummy (braxton hicks maybe, or too early, not sure) and vaginal cramps again.
Not enjoyable!
And the real icing on the cake is that I've not been able to reach an 'awake' orgasm once during my pregnancy with my partner.
My sex drive is zero and has been the whole way through, even now MS has gone. I've lost the ability to have orgasms while awake and my sleep orgasms are painful and frightening!
I've googled this and seems other people have the same.
Hurrah for pregnancy side effects!!

Thanks for your reply.
Pregnancy is not the great experience I was expecting 🙁

I would say up until the baby starts kicking/moving it is physically not a great experience in any way!
But once that happens it makes it all worth it

I get sleep orgasms too! Just coming to the end of the first trimester. It's a very odd situation (but nice) and makes me feel uncomfortable/crampy afterwards for the day. I think their ok as they are natural so can't be harmful. I think it mainly happens when I drink a lot before going to bed, if that's any help!! X
