Haven't felt the baby move much today, even after eating and the usual things that make her move. Im 27 weeks with a bad case of OC so came in and they make me feel like i'm stupid for being here!! "Well there's no clean beds so your have to wait and it'll be a while" I feel like im wasting every ones time and i should leave as baby has also moved a tiny bit. Should i stay or should i go !!!

Stay! You were worried enough to go in so get checked. I've had to go in twice and everything was fine but I was always told not to hesitate if I was concerned. Don't feel bad.

If there's a shop or vending machine, you could try drinking a cold sugary drink while you're waiting? See if you can wake baby up a bit.

Absolutely stay! Request to speak to the senior midwife or call PALS from the hospital...or just ask to call PALS from the delivery suite phone. They should have a Day Assessment Unit or Triage room where they can pop you on a monitor for half an hour to check baby, if not request that a midwife listens in with a doppler while you wait for a free monitor to become available.

If they are funny with you politely ask them if they are familiar with the current recommendations on reduced movements. If they say yes, then ask them why they are making you feel bad for following the recommendations. If they say no, ask them why they are not up to date with best practice.

Stay!!

Your baby is your concern, not the attitude of the midwives!

Makes me cross when I hear people get made to feel silly or unwelcome for getting checked over.

Hope all is ok. Try not to worry Flowers

Oh I'm so sorry they have made you feel this way. I called them after my mum insisted because baby had not moved for 24 hours and they insisted I went up for a check. Everything was ok, I apologised for wasting their time and the lady was very cross and said I had not wasted anyone's time, that is why they are there, not only to check the baby but make sure you are reassured.
Please stay and make sure everything is ok. X

How did it go OP?

stepbystepdoula · 16/06/2017 11:28

Hope you're doing OK.
Your concerns during pregnancy should always be taken seriously, mother's instinct should not be ignored.
Also it us their job to provide reassurance.
Hope you managed to stay and get checked out properly 💕

Stay it sounds like you have just got a horrible midwife. I actually got told off recently for not going in sooner and she said even if you can feel baby moving absolutely go in if the pattern has changed your doing the right thing x

Sorry just realised this is an older post hope everything was OK in the end xx
