Hi All

After a very worrying week of brown discharge I'm going for a scan tomorrow morning but I'm unsure as to what kind of scan it will be. I'll be 6 w 6d tomorrow. I was that all over the place when I spoke to EPU I forgot to ask. What kind of scans have other people had at this stage?

Oh Carty I really feel for you, try and stay calm though. I did just speak to my friends mum who is a senior midwife and she said it can be totally normal to have old blood discharge and not to worry at all unless you have pain (not twinges) or bright red blood!

Sending you lots of positive thoughts and healthy baby vibes!!!

I've started a notebook to log any discharge and seeing as everyday feels like a month it's helped me realise there isn't much- not as much as a period!

I'd also found playing games like solitaire on my iPad whilst watching films and trying to keep busy passes the time!

I've had brown spotting since the beginning of this pregnancy, now about 17 weeks. Scan showed a sub chorionic haematoma, basically a blood clot which develops between the membranes and the wall of the uterus (as far as I understand). This explained the bleeding and the baby was fine.. I understand the worry you're going through. Fingers crossed for you for tomorrow.

That is so, so kind of you! Means a lot so thank you. There really are some good people on here.

You've inspired me to do the same!! I know already when I put my rational head on it's minimal and it's even there every time I wipe.

Sending those positive baby vibes right back at you!!! Thank you Flowers.

You've made my day xx

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 14/06/2017 19:05

Congratulations OP!

Also not sure if you realised, but your name and date of birth are visible in the scan picture you posted. If you didn't mean to do that you can report your post and MNHQ can take the photo down.

Carty76 · 14/06/2017 19:07

Thank you all so much. Yep dates have changed slightly, I'm measuring as 7 weeks. Little one is all of 9mm Grin. I was utterly convinced it was going to be a completely rubbish outcome and was shaking like a leaf this morning. I never have any good luck but I certainly did today! You all kept me sane last night so thank you again. Smile.xx

Hi Carty76,
Firstly...
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. And quiet congrats. Smile

Secondly, sorry we had to withdraw your entire post there, we tried just to remove the photo but it was extra extra sticky. A good omen, we sincerely hope, but does mean that your thread now reads a bit strangely. Apologies for that, and again.

Hello lovely ladies

Leading on from my previous post...everything has been fine so centre my scan, discharge was still happening but was reassured following the scan. However last night I all of a sudden felt some "gunk". Went to the loo and it was slimy discharge, colour wise it was still brown but it scared the living daylights out of me. It was literally just that one bit and I've nothing since, just the usual discharge. Spoke to EPAU and they felt it was nothing to worry about and just to see how I go. Am I being bonkers to think something has happened?

Orangebird69 · 20/06/2017 17:05

Please try not to worry. Are you feeling ok otherwise? No red blood or cramping at all?

Carty76 · 20/06/2017 17:05

No, nothing whatsoever. Just that one slimy discharge and that's it.

OP posts:
peachgreen · 21/06/2017 09:57

@Carty76 I had the exact same experience as you - brown discharge, scan at 6+5 all fine and then the 'gunk' at 7+2 - like EWCM. Apparently your mucus plug forms at 7 weeks so it's normal to get increased thick jelly-like discharge. I had another scan at 7+5 (I have a cyst that they're monitoring) and all was absolutely fine. So hopefully nothing to worry about for you either.

Carty76 · 21/06/2017 12:18

Really?! What a relief for you! I've gone into paranoia overdrive. It has stopped, still just getting bits of the brown/black stuff I had before. I've got my booking in appointment next week so do t know whether to wait until then as EPAU were reluctant to give me anitber scan...
