Fitting back into clothes

Hi,

Just wondering how long it took you to get back into your pre pregnancy clothes.

I bought lots of clothes before I found out I was pregnant as I went on honeymoon. Haven't been able to get much wear out of them! I'm due in July and so far haven't put on any weight over then my belly.

I'm not expecting it to go back instantly and I won't be upset if i dont go back. I'm just intrigued how long it took other people.

Thank you

My son is 9 now and I'm definitely nearly there. Almost!

Oysterbabe · 11/06/2017 19:56

I hadn't done it before getting pregnant again when DD was 14 months.

parmavioletmartini · 11/06/2017 19:57

Back in my jeans after 8 months.

A few things still don't fit after a year. But my boobs are a bit bigger.

skinnyamericano · 11/06/2017 20:01

I think it depends on how much weight you put on and a lot of luck!

I managed to get back into my jeans after a week with my first and left hospital in them after my second. I think I have my Mum to thank for those particular genes 😃 (No pun intended!!)

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 11/06/2017 20:05

A month with my first but he was premature so I didn't do the last month of getting massive. With my second a lot longer. I was in some pre pregnancy clothes in 2 months but probably 8 or 9 for everything in my wardrobe to fit again.

I found I didn't like the feel of my c section scar on a lot of clothes and even though the weight had gone things I was a different shape

donkey86 · 11/06/2017 20:09

I'm planning on taking nine months to lose the weight (on the basis that taking nine months to put it on should mean it takes nine months to work it off). But it's my first pregnancy so I've no idea what will really happen.

kazzah29 · 11/06/2017 20:25

It took me about four months until I felt like myself again. I reckon that was down to genes, breastfeeding round the clock and lots of walking with the pram! Everyone is different though, and it's not worth stressing over.

savagehk · 11/06/2017 20:27

2 weeks here but still a bit tight on the waist, so like when just getting too big for normal clothes while pregnant and using hairband trick.

annlee3817 · 11/06/2017 20:35

I got rid of all my pre pregnancy clothes, and wish I hadn't. I put on a lot of weight but had lost most of it by the time my DD 4 months old, and the following summer i had to buy all new stuff when the pre pregnancy stuff would have been perfect.

Mustbeinsane1984 · 11/06/2017 20:39

Everyone is different. I was back in pre pregnancy clothes after first child within a week however jeans were a little uncomfortable down below. I was pretty active in pregnancy so only put on baby bump. This time round I'm expecting a bit longer. Mostly baby bump but I do feel a little bit better get in the ass and thighs. Have had a horrible pregnancy and the sofa has been a good friend 😊

jellycat · 11/06/2017 20:41

About a month I think, both times. I think I was quite lucky though.

hopsalong · 11/06/2017 21:53

About a week first time. This time about three weeks. Though would exclude tight trousers or anything with a small fitted waist: my waist took a few months to lose last inch or so. Also would exclude low-rise trousers, even loosish ones, because they rub on my c-section scar. Also any tops that don't work for breastfeeding -- which is most of them except for shirts!

So in fact was not able to wear about half of my clothes although back to the same weight and basically the same size quite fast. I would say it depends on what you've bought?

Sundaygal · 11/06/2017 22:09

Baby #1 a couple months ... baby # 2 never

InvisibleKittenAttack · 11/06/2017 22:15

DC1 - by 5 months I was back in jeans I bought the week before I got pregnant, then stopped breastfeeding, but not stopped eating cake so regained lots of weight and then was back in pre-baby jeans again by 9 months

DC2 - by 6 months was back in the jeans I bought before DC1.

(I still use that pair of jeans as I 'test' clothing, they currently are a bit small and am going to have to make effort for a few weeks).

However that said, generally my bodyshape has changed since having both DCs, I carry fat in different places, so the styles of clothes that suited by bodyshape before DCs arent the most flattering now.

Heatherbell1978 · 11/06/2017 22:18

Had second child 15 weeks ago and I can fit into most of my clothes aside from my skinniest jeans. I'm 10 lbs heavier than my ideal weight though so things definitely don't look great. With DS1 I was at my goal weight when he was 6 months and actually lighter than pre-baby at one stage. I'm hoping for the same but everything is definitely much bigger this time around😞

kel1234 · 11/06/2017 22:19

I gained 22lb throughout my pregnancy. My pre pregnancy jeans fit within a month. Could of worn them sooner even, but had stitches so didn't want tight jeans until they were fully healed

harleysmammy · 11/06/2017 23:47

I wore my size 8 jeans 6 days after giving birth to a 9 lb 3 boy and was in all my old clothes by 2 weeks. Saying that, during my pregnancy I didn't gain weight anywhere but my belly and my belly was all baby so I was just lucky haha

CrumblingTeeth · 12/06/2017 00:04

With my first I was back in most of my normal clothes after a week but a lot of my dresses and fitted shirts were super tight over my ribcage and boobs. It took about 9 months for my ribcage to shrink back down.

savagehk · 12/06/2017 06:48

My ribcage has permanently stayed a bit bigger than before. Not so you'd notice except for very tight/did items though. And it's definitely ribs, it's across the boniest part of my chest.

Foggymist · 12/06/2017 09:17

About 2-6 months depending on the clothes items, jeans at 2 months (just because scar was uncomfortable against them before that), some tops at 6 months because breastfeeding boobs wouldn't fit into all of them before then.

Mulch · 12/06/2017 09:24

Put on a fuckton of weight, lost two stone within 4months, determined to get last two off within next 4months. Still in maternity gear which consists of stretchy leggings wouldn't even brave jeans just yet

Sunnywithadashofgin · 12/06/2017 09:24

Lost 3 stones in about 7 months, waited until he was 5months to start though.

BentleyBelly · 12/06/2017 14:12

I put on 3 and a half stone, much of it water, honestly when my waters went it was like a flood and i was quite bloated too! It took about 5 months to get back to prepregnancy weight. I kept going though...found breastfeeding a great weight loss aid without even trying thankfully and by 7 months I was about a stone lighter than before pregnancy. I went back to work at 10 months and had cut back on feeding and the weight piled back on, I just love eating!

QueenoftheAndals · 12/06/2017 14:13

About a week, but I only put on 10lb, 8.5 of which was baby.

Cineraria · 12/06/2017 14:44

I was back to my pre pregnancy weight within a week of the birth, probably due to nausea and food aversions, but still don't fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes (mostly fitted dresses) twenty months on! It's down to my bust. It went from a 30FF/G to a 30 J cup and has stayed the same since as I'm still breastfeeding DS. I'm pregnant again and wondering if they'll fit me again when DS2 stops breastfeeding. I can't even remember what I have.
