Risk of baby turning and becoming breech?

I had my 36 week check last week and my baby is no where near my pelvis.
The midwife was very concerned that the baby isn't even partially engaged at this point. She said that the concern is that even though the baby's head is down he may turn, so they want to keep a close eye on me.
My question is that is it very likely that he will turn?
The baby is also OP so I am having a go at OFP to try and get him to move, is this likely to increase the chances of the baby becoming breech?
I have not really had any information from the midwife on how likely this is to happen and am quite concerned about it.
Also is there anything I can do to help the baby engage?

is this your first baby?

spinning babies is a good site too for getting baby in a good position. The baby's head is the heaviest part, so if it the head is down, and has been for a while, odds are it will stay down ! of course nothing is guaranteed, but it is probably ok...

OFP is going to help line up your baby in the best position for birth, so i am not sure how the recommended positions etc..would make a baby turn breech..

Had a look at the spinning babies website from an older thread that I found straight after my appointment, thanks.

I was just a bit concerned as I'd rather have the baby OP and not try OFP than turning him breech. But I want to do the best I can to get him in the best position for birth so I can hopefully have as little intervention as possible.

there was a thread last week from a lady whose baby had not engaged at 37 weeks, i think, and within a week had engaged ! so time yet for things to happen

i can ask the question on the Doula UK site, if you like, to see if any more experienced doulas know about this or have any tips?

I've had an appointment today and the baby now has his back down my left side and is 1/5th engaged. So hopefully now there is little risk of the baby becoming breech! Thanks again for your advise.

I'm trying all the tricks of the trade to turn my lo at the moment.

Spent lots of time sitting on my birthing ball and leaning over it. Luckily he wasn't breech just back to back but it seems to have done the trick. Will be keeping it up now just in case and I hopefully only have 2 weeks to go!
