Ttc after one depo shot

Hi everyone I'm sparkly brand new here, just looking for advice, I was on the implant and got it taken out then had one shot of the depo thinking we didn't want another baby, that was in November 2016, I was due to get it renewed in February this year but we decided to try for another child we have four already, I had a very long 3 week bleed in January whilst on depo but nothing since, depo 'ran out' Feb 21st I've had nothing since, few cramps and moods but no period which is disheartening when I'm trying to get pregnant. I do ovulation tests and there is always a second line varirying in colour sometimes strong but never positive i.e never as dark as the test line, so I don't think I ever successfully ovulate, I've tried dong quai, Angus castus, black cohosh and now looking into acupuncture!

I know I should just be patient, but I honestly thought ONE depo shot would mess with me this much as anyone experienced similar?

Is there anything a doctor can give me? Any foods I can eat to help the depo leave my body quicker?

Many thanks
X

I only ever had 1 depo shot and periods returned pretty much straight away but still took me 2 years to conceive, it can take a year for the shot to be fully out of your system no matter how many you had xx

I'm currently cycle day 156!!! I just want to get back to 'normal' if I stayed like this I'd only be fertile 3/4 times a year :( I'm not getting any younger I'd like a baby before I turn 36.

Go and speak to your doctor, see if there's anything he can give you to help you ovulate x and the best of luck, it was a long 2 years for me was starting to think there was something wrong with my fertility but you will get there x

Thank you so much, I have an appointment with the doctor in the next fortnight hopefully they will be sympathetic and not brush me off as I've had four pregnancies. I know I'm extremely lucky already. Xx

It took over 2 years for my cycles to return after depo but that was after a few years. Docs didn't want to know.
Hope it's quicker for you

Ah nightmare, suppose I just have to hope it turns up, such conflicting info online saying herbals can delay things then others saying it helps bring it faster, so nice speaking to real women who have experienced the same thing so thank you :)

I was on depo for a long time, but (as I understand it) just having one shot doesn't necessarily mean the effects will wear off much quicker.

My periods took 5 months to come back and then were all over the place. I had a lot of short bleeds in a short space of time, I don't think I was having proper periods or ovulating.

It took me exactly one year after my last injection wore off to fall pregnant (had it in October 2016, wore off by Jan 16, pregnant Jan 17). At least some of this was definitely due to depo screwing up my periods.

It's frustrating but all you can do it wait for it to leave your body naturally. I doubt the doctor will want to rush to give you anything which might start you ovulate more quickly.

Hang in there, it will sort itself out eventually.

Personally I wouldn't take things that may or may not help but don't have any clinical evidence to back them up.

Just wait and be patient. 4 months since the contraception ran out (when you couldn't actually be sure what the levels in your body were) is NOT long in the scheme of things.

I was on the depo 11 years. My last shot ran out July 2016 and I got my first period in over 11 years two months later. My period came on three days after starting taking Angus Castus - could have been a sheer coincidence of course! I had one 26 day cycle and got pregnant the following cycle so there's hope!!

I took Angus Castus throughout both cycles and up until about 8 weeks pregnant when I started gradually reducing the dose and was off it by 12 weeks pregnant.

I took tablets I got off Amazon - I think they were 500mg but can double check if you like?

I know you say you tried Angus Castus already along with a few other things but have you given any one thing a proper good try? What dosage of it were you taking? We're you taking it at the same time as anything else - could they have been cancelling out one another?

Also, bit personal but are you overweight? I remember reading that the depo is stored in fat cells so I suppose the less fat the less depo stored!

Best of luck TTC!!!

Thank you for the advice, I've tried all three herbals for 3.5 months now, i bought Angus castus tincture, and black cohosh and dong quai capsules never considered they could cancel one another out, I might just stop and let my body get back to normal in its own time, Yes I'm a little overweight, I'm addressing that problem now as I also read the depo can stay in fat cells, my husband says this is a perfect time to learn some patience as I honestly am the most impatient person ever, just a strange situation for me as I used to be regular as clock work.

Quick question, can you ovulate without a period? I keep getting nearly positive ovulation strips and signs of ovulation but again reading online it has conflicting answers.

Can't thank you all enough for the quick answers.
