Think I might be in early labour?

I'm 37+6 and I've been having a snot like yellowish clear discharge but only over the past two days not in one big clump.
I've been having strong period like pains and strong braxton hicks!
Also been to the loo and emptied my bowels multiple times!
My back pain is so bad and I just feel I might be!

Any advice or have any of you been through the same thing and it's resulted in labour?

How are things going now, @poppylip?

poppylip · 09/06/2017 02:29

Still a very sore back and went to the loo once again!
Called mau but they said have to wait for my waters or regular contractions.
Just wondering if I'm close! Thought I would have been a mummy by this time tomorrow and doesn't seem hopeful now after that call:(

It sounds like it could be. I find the best way of distinguishing Braxton hicks/ contractions was a hot bath then bed. If I could sleep it wasn't labour!

poppylip · 09/06/2017 02:38

Had a bath earlier and 3 minutes in I had very strong braxton hicks with strong back pain and upper pelvic pain. Got out and had about 3 more then it just passed! It's driving me mad. Am I? Aren't I!? Just want to know lol

Well that wasn't the case for me I went to bed thinking they where Braxton hicks and woke up fully dialted at 4am lol x

poppylip · 09/06/2017 02:47

Just had another tightening in my tummy accompanied by strong lower back pain!

I had my second at 37+5. I'd had BH all through the pregnancy so hadn't noticed them so much the day before but then that morning as I was preparing to drop DS1 to crèche and go get my toes done I had a really strong painless BH and my water broke all over the kitchen floor. Especially if your bowels are emptying I would say that your body is getting ready 👍

Tried getting some sleep but back is literally agonising. Going to try having another bath to see if I can soothe it abit

Sounds promising!

How are you feeling now?

poppylip · 09/06/2017 04:39

Thank you x

Just got out and still have back ache. Maybe it's just baby pushing up against it? I don't know. Think only true indication will be the full on contractions or water breaking!
Going to try..and get some sleep and see what happens!
Had a hot curry earlier and I've had no heart burn what so ever! so that's definitely a plus! 😁Usually really struggle with it, maybe that's another sign..😶😶

You might find a shower soothing- aim the water at your back to soothe the pain.

WelshMoth · 09/06/2017 04:53

How are things now Poppy?

Applesandpears23 · 09/06/2017 05:44

Try very hard to ignore it. Lie down and rest. If it really is labour it will build.

calimommy · 09/06/2017 06:11

Maybe your having one of those elusive 'silent' labours... a friend of mine had one with her first: she was in hospital for pre eclampsia anyway, had a pain down one leg, not sciatica, finally after an hour or two went to the nurses station and asked for some paracetamol for it. Made a joke that she wouldn't be in labour would she and they must have decided to check her anyway, 10cms!!! I had to fight for all of my cms, I'd LOVE a silent labour this time 😂😂😂

NoOneLikesACrispyTowel · 09/06/2017 07:18

Is this your first or subsequent baby?

My second tortured me like this for a week. Im pregnant with my third and apparently third labors tend to be off and on until the real thing. Oh yay.

Just a side note, it might be worth getting your urine tested because back pain could be an indicator of infection. I had this with baby number 1....

beccii161016 · 09/06/2017 10:12

Labour will build over time so if it gets more intense over time, it's most likely labour! That being said, usually a constant pain isn't labour. Between contractions the pain subsides, not totally but there's a clear change in pain when a contraction ends :)

Good luck! xx

I was in hospital for burning my stomach and was about to be discharged when nurse came back and said btw are you having any short bursts of pain.

I wasn't sure she walked away to check my record sheet thing and my waters went lol 2nd baby slept until almost fully dilated and waters broke over his face when he came out lol xx

Floppypotato · 09/06/2017 21:29

How are you OP?

poppylip · 10/06/2017 01:51

Thank you all for your advice and telling me your experiences!
I'm still pregnant..but one pineapple and two big cups of pure raspberry leaf tea down lol
Still very sore back and feeling very heavy but besides that! Nothing😶
