6 weeks brown discharge

I suppose I'm being a paranoid and irrational woman but here we go. Im 6 weeks pregnant and yesterday I had a only little bit of spotting. It's pretty much stopped now and is was very dark brown and only when I wiped. I had a miscarriage last year so this has made me really paranoid about everything. I now feel as though I've got no pregnancy symptoms, didn't really have any anyway to be fair. I'm booked in for a scan next week but so frightened they won't find a heartbeat. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Brown is old blood so hopefully it's just your uterus starting to stretch and expand. I had some brown blood/discharge a couple of times in my first trimester and it terrified me. The result of that is now 20 months old and pouting water out of the bath onto the bathroom floor. Good luck Flowers

It's so frightening isn't it. I suppose time will tell!

I had 2 mc so I totally understand where you're coming from. There is nothing anyone can say or do, other than you trying to remain positive and obviously taking good care of yourself. Not easy I know.

Hi Carty

I had this last week for a day or two and had an early scan last week and saw a little heart beat flickering away. The lady who did the scan said it is fine and old blood from implantation. Also had it for a day or two this week, luckily I saw the midwife today for the first time and she said it was probably old blood/implantation too and that only to worry if it turns to bright red blood/clots and/or having bad cramping. I'm 7wk + 3 today.

But if you are worried ring your EPU and see what they say.

That's brilliant!!! You must be so relieved Smile. spike to them yesterday and I'm booked in for a scan next friday which feels like an age away!!! It really was minimal the spotting so fingers crossed!

I'm not a medical professional but I really wouldn't worry. I worried myself sick in weeks 5-6 thinking my boobs were sore, then they weren't, abdominal aches then none and the midwife today was so lovely and just reassured me that it was all normal. Of course for some ladies it does end in miscarriages and that's awful but it doesn't mean that will happen to you. I have banned myself from googling and the midwife today told me to just stick to the NHS pages if I have any issues or ring the local EPU.

Fingers crossed for you on next week x

Bless you. Thank you Smilex

Hi carry I had brown when I wiped at this stage. A scan showed heartbeat and it was called implantation bleeding.
The brown continued and changed to pink then red. I assumed id miscarried. But another scan showed a healthy baby at 10weeks, and the bleeding was caused by a hematoma, like bruising in there. I had brown in and off til after 12 weeks. Everything is still fine. Its a TERRIFYING time. I wish you all the best xxx

Carty76 · 08/06/2017 21:09

So glad it worked out for you! It really is terrifying isn't it. Now that's it's more or less stopped it's the lack of symptoms that's worrying me. Which is completely irrational as I didn't really have any anyway!!!

I'm 6 weeks along and woke up with brown spotting today. I've had 3 miscarriages in the last year and I'm so scared to even move. It's an awful feeling as I'm sat hoping for the best but also fearing the worst. I have no symptoms to speak so I'm going to stay positive this time and only seek help if it gets worse. Kids are such a worry from day one aren't they?

Carty76 · 09/06/2017 07:52

Absolutely. I really hope your little bean sticks. It's the lack of symptoms that is now driving me insane. I'm not even that bloated now. You just read into everything don't you?

I've had brown spotting on and off for over 2 weeks now (I'm 8ish weeks today)
It's such a horrible worry
We seen a heartbeat on Wednesday Smile
Doctor at EPU said that it's only a concern if it turns bright red and/or I get bad cramps and at the moment all looks perfect

I'm seeing my consultant on Monday for another scan and I'm hoping she can say what it is, it's the unknown that gets me.

Carty76 · 10/06/2017 20:56

Ahhh, that's amazing!!! You must be so happy!! I'm going into worry overdrive. It's horrible Hmm

I had a bleed at about 8 weeks - was told at a scan that it can be a burst vessel in the cervix? (I think). Anyway, she's 5 now!

LJM5183 · 15/06/2017 04:11

Great news so glad everything is ok x
