After miscarage??

Hey I was just wondering how long is it normally supposed to take until you get your period back after a miscarage? I know this is going to sound stupid and crazy but it's been 3 weeks and 2 days since my miscarage today and me and my partner have had sex four times since that, is there any chance my period will even come or I don't know I'm just really confused ... someone please help???
Thank you

Sorry for your loss. It took me over seven weeks for my period to return.

It's awful, I was 5 weeks and 5 days when I lost it and I was just panicking now because I've read on here loads of times that you should wait for your period to return but I didn't get told that and I was just confused of the fact that is there a chance I could be preganant or is it just my period being fucked?

The reason you are told to wait a cycle before trying again is from a dating perspective. If you were to get a positive test in a fortnight you wouldn't know when you conceived and you could have a scan and not see a heartbeat purely because the baby is not developed enough but you won't know if that is the reason or if you have miscarried again until you are rescanned, which is typically ten days later. So really the waiting a cycle is for your own sanity as being in limbo and not knowing if you are pregnant or have miscarried is awful.

I've had 3 miscarriages and 4 children. 2 of my children were conceived immediately after a miscarriage before I had a period. Might be worth a test.

Sorry for your loss perksofsociey Flowers

I miscarried in April at 7 weeks, we were really keen to try again so I monitored with opks and got a positive 23 days after the bleeding started, so it would have been a long cycle, however I got my BFP and now 7 + 3

I read they only want you wait to make it easier to date, but I've just told them when I believe I ovulated and they've been happy to go with that.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

I miscarried a couple of weeks ago at a similar stage to you and my GP said there was no reason not to try straight away so don't worry.
Have you got any idea if/when you ovulated? That's often a good way of figuring out when AF may turn up

Perksofsociety · 08/06/2017 20:27

Thanks everyone for your help and no I have no idea when I ovulated
