Hi
I think I'm around 6 weeks pregnant and have managed to get an early scan in a couple of weeks, due to a previous miscarriage and my anxiety.

Can anyone tell me what is in store?
I'm guessing it will be a vaginal scan?
Will they take my blood? Xx

Hi!

I had a scan just after six weeks because of a possible ectopic, only one ovary left due to previous surgery.
It was internal because it was so early.
They took my blood at the A+E but in the day of the scan they were happy the HCG from the day before so didn't take any more.
I have an early scan on Sunday at 8 weeks, so not sure what to expect for that one. I read they might try external first.

I've had vaginal scans at 5 and 6 weeks, abdominal at 8 weeks (quite fuzzy but tiny embryo was visible!).

It really depends on what they can see from a normal scan - an internal scan helps them get a better look. With both my mc's they did an internal to check they weren't missing anything (one at 9 weeks, one at 6)
I then booked a private scan at 7+4 for my third pregnancy for reassurance and piece of mind...the normal scan showed 2 sacs so again they did an internal to investigate further but it showed baby 2 was smaller and slower heartbeat so I was told it was unlikely he'd survive. Good news is that all was good with measurements for baby 1 and I'm now 37+3.
Good luck OP.

I had a scan at 6w 5d - it was abdominal, not internal and looked like this...

Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks all!
Having a terrible day...
Scan now today as bleeding has started, bright red and quite crampy.

Really don't think I can go through this again, I've already had a miscarriage Sad
