13 weeks PG and bleeding

I am 13 weeks PG and have had a slight bleed this morning. It seems to have stopped now. It was dark brown and I don't have any pain/cramps. I have tried to get hold of the midwifes/antenatal clinic but no one is picking up the phone. My GP can see me at 5.30 but what can he do with no scanner? Will he refer me to EPU? I know you guys can't tell me nothing is wrong but what do you think?

Give the Delivery Suite a call and the should refer you to the Gynae ward.

Let us know how you get on

madmarchhare · 19/03/2007 11:40

Try contacting the EPU yourself. Agree that GP wont really do anything.

Try not to worry too much, bleeding doesnt always mean the worst.

Taichimum · 19/03/2007 11:45

Have you had a 12 week scan? If you have and all was good that is a good sign. If you have not had a scan, I would try and get one to put your mind at rest ASAP. Can you refer yourself to the EPU? (you can were I am). If not go to the docs today. He won't be able to do much else but he should be prepared to refer you to the EPU.
Bleeding in pg is always a worry but it is surprisingly common. It is worth getting it checked out though.

nh101 · 19/03/2007 11:45

Just got through to the EPU, they can see me Wed morning. Fingers crossed. x

I had a dating scan at 10 weeks and everything was fine. Due to have another dating scan a week on Friday (cos the 10-week one was a bit early - it was 12 weeks after my last period which is why they scanned me then but I knew I was only 9/10 weeks cos I'd taken a PG test six weeks after my last period and it was negative. I'd just come off the pill.)

Thanks for all your messages. I'll try to stay calm!

My friend had these on and off between 7 weeks and 13 weeks. They eventually managed to tell her, after much worrying on her part, that she had "pools" of blood behind the placenta that were bleeding out. It's now stopped.

Try not to worry too much. As said, the fact that you're not cramping is a very good sign.

nh101 · 19/03/2007 14:43

The bleeding has started again and it is quite red now, but there is still no pain.

Heya nh.

Cant you get yourself down the hosp today? i know you dont mind waiting until Wed it will be horrible waiting!

No pain is usually a good sign isnt it? is it heavy bleeding? like a gush?

3xamum · 19/03/2007 14:46

I had this at 14 weeks with my first child. I think it would be worth going to the hospital today just so that you can get the scans and a check over x

nh101 · 19/03/2007 15:13

Yes I think so too now that the bleeding has started again. I will ring hospital and go straight there. Thanks guys

Hi, just wanted to say that I had a bleed too, and everything was fine.

Hi NH101,

Really hope all's well. Everything's crossed for you.

Hopeitwontbebig · 21/03/2007 09:24

How are you nh101, hope you're ok.

nh101 · 21/03/2007 13:24

Hi guys, thanks so much for all your messages. It's bad news I'm afraid. The baby died at 10+4 (I would have been 13+1 today).

The hospital wouldn't see me Monday so I went home to rest and went for my scan this morning.

Going for D&C tomorrow afternoon, my medical insurance covers it, they wouldn't have me in on nhs until friday so I am pleased it is going to be all over soon.

I don't want any other bleeders out there to get worried - I think I have been an unlucky one and you'll mostly be fine!

We got PG very quickly so we are feeling positive. I am only 29 so lots of time for us yet. And I have a great DH and lots of family around.

xx
