First Baby Flutters

Over the past couple of days I've started to feel what I believe to be my baby's first movements. I'm 19+2 - I've had a few different types of feelings. Some like butterflies, some like someone is flicking the inside of my tummy, some like the feelings of being on a rollercoaster, rolling type feelings. I just thought it would be nice to hear other peoples experiences, and how you'd describe the feelings xx

Hi! I'm 26 weeks now but felt at about 18 weeks I think. It was frustrating because I was so sure it was baby and not just bodily function 😅 but it was nothing like anyone had described online - flutter/rolling/swishing - and then I read on The Bump (I think) that someone had described it as a tapping and I was like YES! That's exactly what I felt! It was a single tap, but it was clear as day! Loved it, it took another week I think til I felt anymore movement and now I get them all the time. It's my favourite part, they're strong enough now that I can see my belly moving from the outside and it just amazes me Grin

with the first 2, it was like butterflies or, less lyrically, trapped wind. with the 3rd it was very clearly a kick or punch (18 weeks). with each one, their movements in the womb have indicated what their personality is like, especially now that I can look back. my first had his feet under my ribs and would slowly stretch out his whole body (which was pretty uncomfortable!) - he used to do the same thing after he was born. my 2nd would always wake up at about 5am and start wriggling and she's always the first up now (aged 4).

enjoy!

It amazes me as well, I love being able to identify them more as the baby - I was very unsure at first. But as I feel them more often I'm sure it's baby, my hubby even managed to feel a tiny one today. He just said it felt like my abs tightening a little, I can't wait to be able identify them more. Glad I started this thread, it's made me feel so excited xx

Aw that's the best too!! I was 22 weeks when OH finally felt them because they're so sporadic, but that was amazing for him too because he's been largely left out of the whole pregnancy if you like. I keep him as involved as possible but it has been awesome for him to feel and see!

Yes, feeling like someone is flicking their finger on the inside is exactly how mine felt. With a weird little vibration afterwards. I started feeling mine at about 20 weeks, very weird but very awesome Smile although I think I got my first kick in the cervix last night Shock

I would describe first movements as popcorn popping. Now I feel like I am being tasered sometimes!

@Lemondrop99 oh man I think I've started experiencing that too! Weird feeling, kinda like knocking the wind out of me and also feeling like everything might just drop out Blush
