Hi All.... I really can't believe I am actually in a position to post in this area... I got my first ever BFP this morning. I'm 37 and have been ttc for 6 months (4 months properly and 18 months not preventing)... so far everything has been about TTC and now i have a BFP, not sure what to do next! I haven't told my partner yet because he's a bit fragile at the moment (unwell) and although the line is decimate, its still light so going to monitor for a few days and wait until it's a little darker and iv e allayed my own fears! I still have abdominal, period like cramps but no bleeding and feel a little sick... I woke up with lots of phlegm this morning though... odd. Sorry for the ramblings... any thoughts on what next?

Hi. I am 37 and have just found out I'm pregnant too. Basically I have just started making sure I eat healthily and cut right down on my caffeine ( as I love tea).
I am just over 5 weeks and found out last week. I rang for a doctor appointment on Friday but they just gave me a number to self refer to the midwives. To be honest I don't think there is much else to do! But I know what you mean about not knowing what to do next! To be honest I think you just have to wait till your 12 week scan!

lol Monkey... it's so good to know other people in the same position are out there... it's been such a long time coming and such a constant thought... thanks for the advice... I'll ring the doctor on Monday and look at my eating plan! Is this your first?

Congratulations!

I'm 6+2 now. I phoned the Drs for an appointment which was going to be a week, so I had heard you could self refer to the midwives. Phoned the Drs back and sure enough I just had to pop into the surgery and fill a short form on. Got a letter from the midwives a few days later saying to ring them for an appointment, which I have for when I am 8+4. I thought the appointment would be in the gp surgery, but apparently they all work differently, mine is at home. I needed to know where I wanted to give birth when I rang them for an appointment, so if there's a few choices near you I would start thinking about that, seemed crazy to me so early! I also have to have an accurate printout of my bmi, but I guess if your appointment is in a surgery they can do it there.

Hi. Yes it is my first and I feel exactly the same as what your writing! I'm trying my hardest now to just chill out and just take it easy as I feel like there isn't much else to do.
Congratulations and I hope your pregnancy goes well

lisara79 · 03/06/2017 11:32

thanks icantthink... it does sound complicated for so early on.... I'll have to see the doctor as I take medication not recommended during pregnancy (she knew we were ttc and will be ok until I see her)... so healthcare is where it's at for now!!

Monkey... it's #1 for me too so all New!

I'm 38 and I just found out yesterday too! 5wks. We weren't exactly ttc so I'm a bit unprepared! I'm not sure how soon you have to see the doctor either (or midwife as I've just learned from this post!) or what else I need to do... apart from browse mumsnet obviously ha ha!

TiaMe · 05/06/2017 07:32

Hi everyone, I'm 36 next week and also found out yesterday that I'm pregnant (it's feels weird even typing it) 4 weeks + 3 days by my estimation...been trying over a year and was waiting for appointments to be seen by fertility clinics so this was a very pleasant surprise! I'm kind of the same as you though, I don't really know what to do next - going to call my GP today and ask them if they arrange referral or I do.. Hubby is insisting we get a private 8 week scan so fingers crossed all goes well until then.. good luck to you all!

Google your area's NHS trust midwife service or check with GP reception as every trust is different.

I just got given the midwife service phone number, rang up and booked myself in. Then the booking in appt and info going onto the computer system booked the dating scan.

Hello all! Also just had my first BFP and feeling totally fazed. It's quite faint and I feel like calling the doctor might be over kill but I'm sure doing nothing isn't what I'm meant to do either! how many tests did you do before you referred to the midwife?

arbrighton · 05/06/2017 13:04

My first was pretty faint too @ElsieMae13 but did another the next day which was darker.

Asked GP reception that week what to do.

Hi all.

Would love some early pregnancy buddies.

I'm 35 and confirmed today through HCG bloods that I'm 4+3!
TTC just under 3 years and been going through IVF since October, one cancelled transfer in Dec, one failed in Feb but three positive HPT's and blood work on our May transfers, I'm so delighted though I'm sure it's not fully sunk in yet!

Congrats all.

KatieK79 · 05/06/2017 20:12

I rang my doctors today (it felt weird saying it loud!!), they said I need to go there to confirm* and then they'll give me info about the midwife. Ive got an appointment tomorrow... the receptionist said "congratulations"... it's all so surreal!!

  • I'm pretty sure: positive test (dark line), period over a week late (I'm never late, well, apart from my last period which I think may have had the knock-on effect of me mis-calculating!), very painful boobs (I had to sleep in a bra last night), incredible thirst and feeling hot a lot of the time. Hmmm... if I'm not pregnant I should be worried!!
