Disheartened after unsuccessful sweep

I'm 39+6 with my first pregnancy and went for a sweep today. Unfortunately my cervix was too far back and closed so she couldn't do it. It's left me really disheartened as I really don't want to wait another 12 days to meet my baby. Does anyone have any positive stories of cervix still being so far back and closed at this stage?

I had a sweep at 41 and a half weeks and was told the same, that my cervix was unfavourable and she couldn't even complete it. I went into labour the next day!

There's no evidence sweeps work tbh - babies come when they're ready! At least you know it will only be another 2 weeks max.

Apparently the typical length of a first pregnancy is actually 41 weeks.

When I was 40+1 I had a sweep, I have a tilted cervix and the midwife had tiny fingers 🙀 so didn't do a thing. I went home, got by partner to have a rummage and hey presto I had DD the following evening.

I was examined and had a very closed and far back cervix. DD arrived about 12 hours later. Things can change very quickly.

Thanks for your replies, I know things can change quickly so nice to just have reassurance. Think I'd convinced myself I'd be early so it was disappointing to hear 😏
