I've always heard that you can get a false negative but never a false positive. But also that if it's been more than 10 mins since doing the test then it can read positive even if you're not pg.

Love the name, are you always skirmish, or is it a name change?

skirmish · 17/03/2007 20:21

So.....are you trying to get pg??
Sorry, am nosy!!!!

skirmish · 17/03/2007 20:26

not 'trying' as such, but not 'not trying' either...it took us nearly two years to get pg with ds, so just figured it might take that long again...and, obviously, have just done a test, and it's postive...

might just add, ds is only 4mths!

yeah, will be hard to tell your dates. Are you bfing? Cos then you have no periods so even harder!!
I'm bfing my 7 mth dd2, and starting feeling a bit queasy and light headed etc a couple of mths ago. No way to tell so had to do a test. Luckily still had one left from a twin pack from dd2. Negative-phew!!

skirmish · 17/03/2007 20:39

i was bf up until about 4wks ago, when ds decided he just didn't want to do it anymore...so, have never had a period. Had slight spotting this week, which i also had when pg at 6wks...and like you, felt queasy, had 'that feeling', and thought i would do a test! Weird thing is, dh is down the pub, so will have to wait to tell him!

coincidence for mother's day or what!

they say dont read results after 10 mins,
but if you did get a posotive and read it straight away you must be pg congratulations.
lins xx

skirmish · 17/03/2007 21:51

it was there straight away...

Will DH be happy???

skirmish · 17/03/2007 22:11

i hope so!!! no, he will be, he was the one saying we should 'get the next one out of the way'...i hated being pg, and although i love being a mum etc etc, it isn't all its cracked up to be in the early days, IYKWIM

and, fingers crossed this pg won't be as bad...ds just started teething, and he's never been the 'happiest' of babies, so it's even worse (still, at least he sleeps thru the night )

My dd's (2 of them) are like chalk and cheese. Brave you for doing it so soon, esp if you had a hard time. DD1 came out so awkwardly, with arm around her head, head turned sideways, that I was really scared of giving birth again. dd1 was over 1 1/2 til I tried for dd2 and even then it was dh's idea and I was dubious.
But any way.
Bet he'll be thrilled. Is so easy for them tho. They just do the fun bit!!

skirmish · 17/03/2007 22:27

it's not that i've had a hard time as such, i feel awful when i complain as i know there are people out their who really do have a hard time...but, i think it's because you have visions throughout pregnancy of having the 'angel' child who is constantly happy, and rarely cries! How naive i was too think that!

Thanks for listening...had to tell someone

DD1 was so good til she was about 2 1/2. Now she's 3.3 and DRIVING ME NUTS. So there you are. DD2, doesn't sleep as much as dd1 in the day, but is a star at night so can't complain!!

vixma · 17/03/2007 22:45

Do another preg test asap.....this will soon sort out any doubt, the tests normally have a high percentage of accuracy and I have never met anyone who has done a test and had positve and it not be correct, however most do not say they are 100% accurate...so good luck and all my best wishes that you get the result you want.

skirmish · 17/03/2007 22:59

will do it again tomorrow...but think it's fairly accurate

Sorry, didn't read the whole thread but YES you can have a false positive. It's highly unusal but I did. The test came in a pack of two and I had taken the first one a year earlier. This one lived under my sink for a year. Not a good idea, apparently.

Especially not a good idea to text your fiance when he's ice climbing on top of a mountain with "CALL ME!!!!"
