Hey everyone!! first time Mum here! I have was warned about getting bad acid reflux/ indigestion/ heartburn during pregnancy.
I'm 28 weeks and every night this week I've woken up to vomit loads and loads of bile! I tried Gaviscon liquid which doesn't help.

I was wondering if there's anyone who's had this happen to them? Or anything that has helped? Xxxx

Rennies are the only thing that help me... I worked out chocolate was giving me the reflux boo! But otherwise it can come on randomly.
Sympathies.. it's vile!

I read somewhere about using apple cider vinegar?

I have reflux anyway so am on omeprazole daily but prior to medication these tips and tricks really help

Dont eat an hour before bed

Dont lay flat, lay at a 45 degree angle as this helps bile stay in stomach - be sure to prop yourself up from the waist though, if its just from the neck/shoulders this increases the pressure in your tummy and makes it worse

If you can lay on your side

Avoid salty, sugary, spicy foods, coffee, for me also tomatoes onions and garlic make it worse

Eat slowly and rest after eating to allow digestion

Gaviscon advance (available OTC) after every meal and straight before bed

Apart from that unfortunately baby will keep pushing on them organs!!

I agree with PP I had stomach ulcers and had to deal with acid reflux alot and i felt so much better sleeping sitting up in bed! Also trying to relax even whilst feeling sick (hard to do i know) and managing to get back to sleep will help you as it will be gone by the time you wake up Smile

Go to the docs and get proper tablets on prescription. I had ranitidine and it was a godsend.

I had very bad heartburn and was throwing up every night. I got sick of the number of people helpfully suggesting gaviscon- ooh cheers I hadn't thought to try literally the most common and readily available heartburn remedy in the uk Hmm!

I had this when I caught a cold a couple of weeks ago, its probably not great for it to be happening on a regular basis though. I had one day of it and my oesophagus went into painful spasm from vomiting up acid so I rang the GP the following day and he put me on omeprazole to reduce stomach acid production. I think it sounds a bit like your stomach is producing too much acid so you ought to contact your GP as prescription medication will make it better.

I've been suffering from bad heartburn and vomiting too! I've started to not eat as late, sit more upright and have milkshakes/yogurt in the fridge ready (as I can't drink milk). Gaviscon makes me gag and tablets don't really help! Ow what fun pregnancy is Hmm!

Dede124 · 23/05/2017 22:43

I had this right up to 14 weeks I found fizzy drinks made it worse. I still get acid but It doesn't make me sick. I find rennies tablets work!

arbrighton · 23/05/2017 22:44

glad it's not just me who actually gags with gaviscon.

I've been taking Rennie for heartburn for the last few weeks. Mostly 'just' a burn in the throat feeling
And eating less, avoiding spicy foods, trying to sit up after eating etc
