I had insulin controlled GD twice and had 2 sections. 1 was unplanned (failed induction), the 2nd was elective. My recovery from elective section was significantly quicker than from the unplanned one.

With regards to body going back to normal, how do you mean exactly? As in feeling 'better'? I was very aware of how major an op a c section actually is, and you really must take care not to overdo it.

My sugar levels were back to normal within 12 hours of having section. It was remarkably quick.
I was on insulin and had a planned section but not for the GD, other health reasons and previous birth had already decided that for me before I got the GD

Have you done a fasting glucose test with your gp? It's usually done at about 6 weeks post delivery but if you are still having diabetes symptoms then you might be one of the unlucky few who actually develop t2 diabetes after gd. I'd speak to the doctor and see if they will do a fasting glucose test on you earlier than usual.

Do you still have your glucose meter from pregnancy? Why not track your sugars after meals for a few days as you would have been doing and see if they are still high?
