8 week scan tomorrow morning, what to expect???

Hello,
I've been booked in at the hospital to have a scan tomorrow morning at 8 weeks, as I had a little bit of bleeding twice after having sex at the weekend both times. Was just wondering what to expect? Like will I see anything or will they just be looking for a heartbeat? Just what we will see/hear if it's all well. Also, as I'm having thos scan, will I still get my 12 weeks scan?

I had an 8 week scan today at my local EPAU as I had had some spotting during this pregnancy and a miscarriage about 7 months ago.

I had to have an internal one (partly because my bladder wasn't full enough). But I was able to see the growth sac (just a dark oval) and inside a small bean shaped baby (it's about 14mm long I was told) with a little flicker that was its heart beating . I didn't hear it but you can see it on the screen. She took a few measurements and confirmed I was about 8 weeks.

I had already seen the midwife at my GP and was told today that I would still get my letter through for my 12 week scan as normal.

Good luck for tomorrow. Although you don't see much, the relief when you see that heart beating is immense.

Hello, thank you for the reply, you were completely right about everything, I did end up having an internal bit done too though just to clarify something... TWINS!!!!!!
8 weeks along by measurements, still have first midwife appt next week, and 12 week scan to be doubled in time... just can not get over the shock!!! Twins. OMG xx

Yes first! Thank you, I'm 25, no twins in either of our families... just so in shock!? Was in shock enough as it was before! Don't know what to expect now!!! Xx

Ooh can you post a pic? I'm 8 weeks today and would love to see your scan. I haven't got a scan for another 4 weeks!

Yes I will post one as soon as I get in at lunch, there isn't a lot to see, except with the two there is clearly two separate babies!!! They weren't sure at this point what type they were, identical/non identical... It's literally mad I can't keep laughing to myself about it! Excited for 12 weeks scan now.
It's so emotional to see their little hearts beating on the screen!! So crazy xx

Aww congrats op, we found out that ours were twins at a 6 week scan! It's amazing isn't it? They're now 13 month old little monsters

Thank you! Yes, very exciting... However now of course I have been torturing myself reading things online about complications with twins with the same placenta etc. Don't know why I do it... SO SCARED! Xx

Hey, just added the pic, hope it gives you an idea! the YS means yolk sacks... the other blobs are my twins!!! Can't get over this yet, sorry. They zoom in to the babies heartbeat on the screen and you can see it pumping away, they printed the pics automatically with out me asking, and my bladder wasn't full enough hence why I needed an internal scan to clarify the two heartbeats, (she didn't want to tell me until she was sure!) glad they did though! Do wish you all the luck, it's so magical! Xx
