Hi everyone.

I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant with my second baby and I have been suffering very badly from hyperemesis. I had a really tough time with my first pregnancy due to this as well.

Its getting to the point where I've been admitted to hospital for rehydration and IV anti-sickness numerous times and am struggling to keep anything other than water down.

My doctor has offered to put me on Ondansetron as nothing else is really working (currently trying to manage on cyclizine). However I'm terrified of taking ondansetron as I read online it can increase the risk of birth defects??

To any of you who had hyperemesis in your second or subsequent pregnancies, how did you manage looking after your older children? And what, if any, medication did you feel worked the best for you?

Thank you.

Come join us on the hyperemesis support thread. Plenty of us, including me, hsve taken/are taking ondansetron and our babies are doing fine.

Hi user, I suffered hyperemisis last year with DC2. There is a hyperemisis group on here which got me through my pregnancy! Def worth joining. I was on a combination of cyclizine and ondansatron for the majority of my pregnancy after trying several other meds. DD is now 7 months old and perfect.
