Just wondering. I'm going for my first appointment when I will be 9w 2d. Will they do a scan? Will it be an ultrasound or an internal?

First appointment is booking in with the midwife if you're in the U.K. First scan is a around 12 weeks , unless you choose to go private.

Thanks for reply. I'm not in the uk so from what I can gather, things are done a lot differently here. Considered high risk because of my geriatric age (38!!) and also post DVT. Just wondered if anyone had had a scan at 9 weeks and what type of scan it was. 😊

I had a scan at 9 weeks and it was not internal. They had no problems taking the measurements they needed. Make sure you have a full bladder.

We can't really advise you as we don't know which country you're in.

My guess is they'll try and abdominal one first and go for a vaginal one of that doesn't deliver. Good luck and enjoy seeing you baby!

In Germany they do internal until 12 weeks, I was told. Full bladders not needed as newer equipment apparently also makes good images with empty bladders.
