Hi, im writting for a friend as she doesnt have internet access, and trying to find out info on this.

Lisa is taking the pill but a few weeks back was ill being sick and had diarheoa which we think makes the pill less effective??? She has now not come on her period, shes only one day late but its playing on her mind alot, and we both worrying about the effect taking the pill could have had on baby.

If anyone knows anything about this it would be nice to hear from you, Obviously she'l take a test if she doesnt come on her period, but nice to hear people views on this before getting to worrid and going doctors

Thanks, Sarah & Lisa xx

She could do a test now. Taking the pill won't hurt the baby. Good luck, hope she's pleased with the result.

I became pregnant while I was on the pill - the midwives weren't concerned at all because the chances of it affecting the baby were very, very, very slim indeed. Ds is now 8 and wasn't affected by it at all.

She should test as soon as possible, so that she can stop taking the pill as soon as she can if she's pregnant. But tell her not to stop taking the pill until she knows she's pregnant ... would be awful to get pregnant because she thought she already was, iyswim!

agree with aloha.....test now and take it from there x

yes take a test

I took the pill for almost 2 months before I realised I was pregnant - no-one batted an eyelid at that.

NutterlyUts · 15/03/2007 18:36

My friend was on the pill til she was 7 months pregnant which was when she found out. Her son is now 6months old, and he's perfectly fine. HTH

friendlyedjit · 15/03/2007 18:37

i'd keep taking the pill and do test asap. Then if positive stop pill. You may not be pregnant, but you may then become pregnant if you stop, and guess if you're taking pill it may not be what you want a moment.
It is very unlikely that this will cause any damage to fetus.

vomiting and diarreah (cant spell!! ) definately decreases the effectiveness of the pill and it takes 2 weeks for it to be fully effective again.

Defo take a test but DO keep taking te pill in the mean time. The pill WONT hurt the embryo if she is pregnant.

haylehmich · 06/09/2007 16:26

hello i was wondering if anyone could help me...im on the pill but i have most of the symptoms you get for first sign of pregnancy...what will happen if i am pregnant but i keep taking the pill?

aikigypsy · 06/09/2007 17:35

I also have a friend who was 5 months pg when she found out, and had been on the pill for years. The baby was fine, no pill-related problems.

lulumama · 06/09/2007 17:37

you should not keep taking the pill, ideally, if you are pregnant, if it is 2 + weeks since you had sex, and you are having pregnancy symptoms, then do a test....

mummylittle · 06/09/2007 17:44

I also fell pregnant whilst still taking the pill for 2 months after, mw said there are no risks. I would def take a test ASAP, then u can start making decisions, stop smoking, drinking etc iykwim! xx
