Urinary tract infection?

Seriously sorry for the TMI about to be shared here. Need opinions from women who have had urinary tract infections whilst pregnant.

I have had urinary tract infections plenty of times in my life. It's always been RRRReally painful, there was never any mistaking it for anything else.

I have no pain at all right now but I'm peeing all the time and sometimes I just feel discomfort down there. Not pain, just general sensitivity the feeling that I ALWAYS have to go.

Are urinary tract infections "different" whilst pg? could i have one without knowing it? When , oh when, will the midwives to a urine test?

Mercy buckets for your thoughts!

It's normal to need to pee more in pregnancy, even early on. How many weeks are you? Depending in how far into your pregnancy you are it could also be that the baby is putting more pressure on your bladder.

It's normal to need to pee more often in pregnancy but unless you suddenly feel ill, or have burning when you pee I wouldn't worry. Most UTI's have symptoms. Having said that, you should keep an eye on this and if you have a history of UTI's, it might be an idea to go to your GP where they can do a urine test for you now. You don't need to wait for your next midwife appointment if you are concerned. I'm sure it's just the pregnancy making you need to run to the loo all the time if you feel fine but better safe then sorry!

P.S. If it is a UTI, it won't "act" differently then usual b/c you are pregnant. You can have no symptoms with a UTI but it is unusual and the pregnancy wouldn't be what masks it anyway.

21 weeks. I've needed to pee three to five times a night pretty much since the fifth week. I think I had a short respite somewhere around 16 or 17 weeks, but for no more than one week. Now I'm peeing every damn hour! lol

No burning, no pain. Midwife appt next wednesday.

Thanks for putting me at ease!

Poor you! As much as it may be annoying I wouldn't worry, especially as you say you have needed to pee more often since the beginning of your pregnancy so all sounds normal. Plus if you are 21 weeks the baby will be big enough to put a bit more pressure on your bladder now as I mentioned. Maybe you are drinking more then usual recently as well? Just keep an eye out for the usual UTI symptoms and I'd say you can wait till next Wednesday if it stays the same, otherwise pop over to your GP. Good luck!
