28 weeks and a bit worried

I went for my 28 week appointment with consultant yesterday who noticed "lots of" ketones in urine (in the past there have been some but obviously more than normal yesterday) and also some protein. She prescribed me some antibiotics in case its an infection and sent a sample off to find out for sure. BP was also higher than usual....160 the first time, then 150 over something as opposed to 120/130 as normal.

So wasnt panickign too much but today noticed that my ankles (one in particular) seems really quite swollen. Have heard that pre-ecalmpsia is shown by swollen feet/hands also ketones and protein. Should i be worried do you think? I was supopsed to phone Docs tomorrow cos results 'might' be in by then. Shall i leave it tell then ...or....?

Hope someone can help

if you get painin your tummy, headaches or flashing lights call immediatly. i had mild pre-eclampsia that started as you describe. if you are worried call today but with no other symptoms you are probably ok waiting 'til tomorrow. the slightly warmer weather may have contributed to swelling. my ankles were like tree trunks from 28 weeks, i then got high bp and protein. was finally hospitalised at 37 weeks. i made it to 39 weeks and never felt ill. good luck.

ketones usually related to having lots of sickness, or not eating a lot,

protein --- if it is +++ is not great, but a trace is not neccesarily an issue

BP - might have been higher because you were worried

yes, raised BP, protein and swelling can indictate PE, good that you are being checked out, as Artichoke has said, pains and visual disturbances need urgent attention...

try resting with your feet up,eat and drink too !
