Hi all

Would love some opinions on the name Linus.
Dh and i have finally found a name that we both like and i would love some feedback on it as we are not really discussing any real possible naems in the real world.

Name would be Linus Raymond Peter

Siblings are Iris, Eli adn Pearl.
Am i just being stupid or is it lovely?

I like it. have you picked a girls name yet form your other thread?

hollyandalice · 15/03/2007 11:26

It's a very cute name, but makes me think of the Charlie Brown character!

JackieNo · 15/03/2007 11:26

I like it, although it does instantly suggest the 'Peanuts' cartoons to me (but that's a good thing).

bundle · 15/03/2007 11:27

made me think of linus pauling, linus roache. I think it's Ok (boys names are soooo hard)

raspberryberet · 15/03/2007 11:28

Makes me think of the Charlie Brown character too, and for that reason it's not a name I would choose. It goes nicely with your other children's names though.

AlienEars · 15/03/2007 11:28

You do know it's the name of a cartoon character from Snoopy who carries his comforter blanket around all the time?

Linus

Although his classmates may never have heard of this ancient cartoon!

AlienEars · 15/03/2007 11:29

Good link HollyandAlice!

bakedpotato · 15/03/2007 11:29

I do like it, but doesn't it sound too much like Iris?

bundle · 15/03/2007 11:30

oh yes, agree with bp re: alliteration of siblings

nogoes · 15/03/2007 11:32

I don't like it. I love your other childrens names though.

clarahj · 15/03/2007 11:53

hi

The Snoopy character does not bother us at all we already discussed that.

I hadnt thought about Linus and Iris.I will have to say it out loud and see how it sounds. damn it.

Keep the opinions coming.

Regarding girls names - for the moment the names in favour are Dorothea or Enid, but these are liable to change, but i hope not as i love both of these at the moment, dh like Edith but i think this is going to get pretty big soon as i see a few popping up.

CODalmighty · 15/03/2007 11:53

blimey dont liek anyof hte names
sorry y opinion and all

moyasmum · 15/03/2007 12:20

I tell my kids that if they had been boys it would be Linus or Philip.
I haven't changed my mind on these names. I really like them.

jabuti · 15/03/2007 12:28

LOVELY.

lulumama · 15/03/2007 12:29

think it is sweet, but doesn;t go great with Iris !!

also, DD drags her blanket out of her cot sometimes, and DH calls her linus ! i think it is one of those names that always conjures up a particular image !

misdee · 15/03/2007 12:31

wasnt starlovers ds called Linus?

Caroline1852 · 15/03/2007 12:31

It sounds sneaky, sort of like he should be in Slitherin House in Harry Potter!

themaskedposter · 15/03/2007 12:31

yes AlienEars - I thought of Snoopy straight away too

however, that aside - I do kinda like it

nickytwotimes · 15/03/2007 12:32

Linus is nice, but does rhyme with Iris. I love Edith, but Dorothea.....

Tommy · 15/03/2007 12:32

we considered this for DS3 but it's a bit similar to one of his cousin's names so we decided against it.

I love it

StrawberrySnowflakes · 15/03/2007 12:33

i like it but then it IS dd and dp's surname, so dont have much choice

jabuti · 15/03/2007 12:33

but are siblings names suppose to rhyme/match? im screwed then, my family is off key!

also, as someone else already mentioned, snoopy will be totally ancient for our kids' generation.

nogoes · 15/03/2007 13:14

That is so spooky that you have put Dorothea because I was just thinking how I like that name but you don't hear it very much. Perhaps we are about to start a trend .

talcyone · 15/03/2007 13:26

With Caroline
Definitely sneaky
