Hi all I'm 29 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 and am wondering if I will need to have the vaccine again? I had 1st time round obviously but no one has mentioned it again! Any ideas x

Yes, I had to have it again with 2nd baby (2.5 years apart).

Yes, the vaccination is more to protect the baby so you should be offered it.

Hmmalittlefishy · 12/05/2017 16:17

I had to have it a second time and also flu although you may be out of flu season.
I'm sure this time around it was given earlier than before around 20 weeks so may be worth chasing it up

Pretty sure it's one of the only antibodies you can't give directly to little one without the vaccine, regardless of whether you have had either the vaccine or whooping cough previously Smile

As long as you have it by 32 weeks, they like you to get it early as it takes two weeks to fully protect your baby

CaipirinhasAllRound · 12/05/2017 19:48

I'm 35 weeks and having it in a week as it wasn't really mentioned by my midwife so completely forgot to arrange it

vfoster · 12/05/2017 21:51

I didn't arrange mine, a midwife surprised me with it at one of my consultant appointments (think it was at 20 weeks).

Current advice is to vaccinate at 20 weeks- previously was 28/32 weeks.

Advised in each pregnancy as it's to vaccinate each baby.

Yeah I got an info letter but I had to ring and book at the drs myself. It said from 20 weeks and I had it at 32 I think. Such a bitch of an injection too, my arm ached for 3 days so make sure it's not on the side you sleep on! x

It was briefly mentioned at midwife apt. I didn't have it with first as recommendation was 28 weeks and ds arrived at 27 weeks, but I'm booked in for two weeks time when I'll be 22 weeks.
