Have you ever had negative pg tests but still turned out to be pg?

Not ttc but feeling very much like I did with first pg. Definate chance I could be pg but 2 test this week are negative.

If I was pg it would make me about 5-6 weeks. AFs all over the place normally so no real indicator for me!!

Whats the latest a negative pg test has shown up for anyone when actually pg?

I had a negative test when I was just over 4 weeks. My niece was still testing negative when she was 16 weeks!

according to my mums medical records she's only been pregnant once - with my brother....but according to the same notes she has given birth twice (me being the 2nd and she tested negative all the way through )

When my sister was 30 weeks her friend did a pregnancy test and she wasn't sure if there was a second blue line so asked my sister to do one to compare it to and it was negative despite the large bump

When i was expecting my 2nd child i took 8 tests all were negative. I was 3 mths pregnant before i get a postive pregnancy test, i was so flipping frustrating cos i kept telling my doc i was pregnant & he kept putting it down to my weight!! My baby (now nearly 12) was 10lb 8oz when he was born!!

mediterraneo · 15/03/2007 09:55

I am 11 days late, no Af, had cramps and back pain when i was 3 days late but no bleeding. Cramps and back pain started again last night....but no bleeding. All tests negative. Will have a blood test on Mon if nothing happens. I am fed up with the whole thing.

mediterraneo · 15/03/2007 09:56

Would be nice to hear from other mums who tested negative though they were pregnant.

lisanorcross · 15/03/2007 10:52

i did a negative preganacy test with dd1 at about 5 1/2 weeks pregnant. didn't show up positive till about 1 week later

CaptainCaveman · 15/03/2007 17:25

Well still no AF, I am also very hormonal like I was when pg with ds. I well up when someone says something nice and I know I will be in floods of tears all evening tomorrow if I watch Comic Relief and see all those sad short little films!!

I feel pregnant too, really frustrated at not knowing. Spoke to gp this am who says that according to her test are pretty reliable. But I think I am pregnant!

did 6 home pg tests, all negative. waited a cuple of weeks and did another - am holding 8 week old dd as I type . I knew I was as it felt so similar to my 1st pg. ...... good luck x

CaptainCaveman · 15/03/2007 20:51

My trouble is I'm soooo impatient! Really not ttc so would be a pleasant surprise if I was pg. Might test again after the weekend if no AF.

Good luck for you too Mediterraneo!

I tested negative with DS, twice. Then I had to call the doctor out because I was in lots of pain, i had thrush, he took a sample to test at the GPs and that was postive. Ds is now 9

catASTROPHE · 15/03/2007 23:24

I also had 2 negs and a 3rd test was positive with DS.

I think perhaps if I'd waited a bit longer (rather than sobbing over the 'blank' stick then binning it) I might have seen a very faint line. When I finally got the positive, the line was faint and only showed up after several minutes.

With my 1st child, the line was very dark and appeared quickly, so I wasn't expecting it to be barely visable!

But my GP told me that even the faintest of faint lines is positive...and the proof is now 1 year old

Twinklemegan · 15/03/2007 23:25

I think later on in pregnancy the pregnancy hormone diminishes so it's more common for a test to be negative. I was driven mad when TTC by these anecdotes (including one of my friends). I felt like I could never be sure even when the test was negative. When I fell pregnant I got a big fat positive (didn't test til I was 8 weeks gone though).

mediterraneo · 16/03/2007 09:52

Still no AF, feel wonderfully pregnant. Will keep you posted.
