Overdue, fed up and going a little crazy

40+5 today, and have just woken up to find I am still pregnant - this is the third morning I've woken up after an evening of 'niggles' which have got steadily worse... and then I go to bed and... nothing! I was sure last night something was happening, even woke DH up to tell him as my BH were getting quite strong and I'd started to get a period type back ache. At last midwife app 5 days ago (with sweep) I was 1cm dilated with soft, 50% cervix. Was due to have another one yesterday but she never showed up.

Please someone tell me this is going to end soon, feel like I going mad!! Am due to see consultant on Friday to book a c-section for Monday (that I really didn't want - I sooo badly want a chance at a VBAC, awareni can refuse but not sure if this is wise).

Reassurance, reality check or positive stories welcome! Smile

Hi Hun,

Hold on in there! I was due on the 4th October 16. 3 days overdue I woke up at 5am crying because I was still pregnant and wanted baby out lol. We all get blinded by the due date and that's it. Unfortunately they just come when they're ready. I had a sweep on my due date but unlike you my cervix was closed and still very high. She booked my induction for the 14th and at 7.16am 15th October my boy was finally born. Pregnancy is just the start, I know I wished my pregnancy away! Just enjoy you're last few days and soak everything up. When you're baby is born it's the most amazing day of your life.

You're not 'overdue' except by some imposed calculation. Your baby will appear very soon - it's rare to find a 17 year old in utero still. The last few days can drag but just relax and enjoy sleep. Go for walks to get it all pressing down. Ignore advice re curry/castor oil and roller coasters.
The earliest of mine apart from the twins was 40+14 - different length pregnancy is quite normal.

40+2 today so understand how you feel. BHs or contractions each evening with pains in the night and nothing each morning!

Dd1 arrived at 40+6 so hoping it's not much longer than that!

👋 40+2 with niggles every night here too, plus horrible SPD stopping me from actually doing stuff. Mainly I'm just very bored. We'll be not pregnant soon, however it happens :)

It'll happen soon, I know how frustrating it is. Been overdue with all three of mine. Each day over feels a week.

My son was 13 days late. Missed induction by 5 hours! Came in the early hours the day before I was due to be induced.

All my labours came out of the blue with no build up. It could start for you any minute.

Hang in there, you are so near the finish line!
