how long to get a dating scan booked in?

hi all, I have my first appt with mw on wednesday next week, and i understand she will be arranging for my dating scan at that appointment. i think i'll be 8wks at the mw appt. does anyone know how long does it take to get your scan date?

At the booking appointment she will put your details into the calculator.. so like when was your last period and how long is your cycle.. this will give how many weeks roughly you are.

Then you'll get a letter send out with the date for your 12 week scan, this is where they measure baby and tell you your due date and a more accurate pregnancy date :)

Thanks Becky, my problem is, i have no idea when my last period was or how long my cycle is (think its about 28-30 days). the clear blue digital tests i did said 2-3 weeks for 2 weeks, then 3 weeks the week afterwards, so im guessing that relatively accurate?

It took a couple of weeks for my letter to come through offering me a date, which was in another 3 weeks from the date of the letter (so I didn't have my scan until 13 weeks) - I think it depends where you are though and how busy they are in your area.

She phoned and booked it whilst I was st the booking in appointment.

I was 11 weeks at booking (my fault for not doing it sooner) and had scan 5 days later.

I'm new here, just phoned hospital today as I'm 6 +2. Been given midwife appointment on 26 May and a scan on 19th May... Had a MC last year so think scans for reassurance

I had my booking app just before 8 weeks & my scan letter came in the post a day or two later... was very impressed with the efficiency! 13 days to go not that I'm counting!

At my booking appointment the midwife made some phonecalls and booked any hospital appointments there and then. Dating scan should be around 12 weeks but could be a week either side.
If it helps I had no real idea about cycle length as I'd just come off the pill and had only had one period. They will take the date of your last bleed or pill date and work you out a rough estimate of due date. At your dating scan they will give you a more accurate date based on size of baby.

I had booking in at 8+5, scan letter then came in the post a couple of days later. Couldn't make my original scan appointment so rang up to move it, fortunately they brought it a couple of days forward rather than delay it & had my scan at 12+2.
