11 weeks pregnant, holiday to corfu, HELP

Hello,
I am yet to see a doctor to confirm how far along I am, but if my calculations are correct I am currently about 6 weeks pregnant.
The GP has said they will be in touch when they need to be, confusing...
Anyway... Me and my partner have had a holiday booked since January, to Corfu for a week in June, when if my calculations ARE right, I will be 11/12 weeks.
We are a bit hit and miss about going, firstly because his mum is terminally ill and we don't know how she will be at that time, but secondly now, I'm pregnant, and still with in the 12 weeks! We really need the holiday, but we also don't want to do anything to jeopardize babies health...
I think I have gathered from the internet it's pretty much personal choice, and that the flight, the heat etc shouldn't be damaging in anyway? And if a miscarriage is going to happen, its going to happen anyway?
I'm just quite anxious as it is, and was wondering if anyone on here has any personal experience/thoughts/opinions about going abroad in the first trimester.

THANK YOU :) xx

It totally fine, unless you are planning to go somewhere really far flung with risk of tropical disease or Zika. We went to Spain when I was about 11 weeks. No problems

Hi OP. I think you'll be absolutely fine. I live in Dubai and am 4+5 today. The heat is not causing any issues to me. I'm flying long haul next week to the U.K. - will be 5 weeks on outbound trip and 6 on return. You'll be fine. The risk of miscarriage drops to around 3.5% after 10 weeks. Enjoy your holiday.

I have always holidayed while pregnant without any problems. . Drove to Spain and returned 3 weeks before dd was born. . Had a lovely brown bump from 3 weeks of sunshine!!

Hi user1490011380

I completely understand how you are feeling! My DH and I went to South Africa for 2 weeks when I had just reached 8 weeks - it was for a family wedding so now way of backing out! I was really worried about going, being so far away from home, just in case etc ....
I mentioned it to my GP who said there was no reason to worry about it ... just listen to your body and take it easy.
For me, having that break really did help with getting trough the first trimester!
Enjoy your holiday ... you will appreciate it so much!

I'm 12+4 and just back from 2 weeks in Japan. Midwife was fine with me flying/travelling about etc. Said there were no issues (although to move around lots on flight due to DVT risk to me). Go on holiday & enjoy yourself, the relaxing break will be good for you and baby 😊

I'll be around 24 weeks when I fly and its a 4 hour flight. I'm slightly nervous but it wouldn't stop me from going, enjoy your holiday you'll be absolutely fine.

I went to Corfu at exactly 11 weeks pregnant, 5 years ago now. It was all fine, the only thing I suffered with was the windy roads in Corfu. I threw up on the bus from the airport (I'm not sure there's a single straight road in Corfu!!).

It was lovely to have a relaxing week with no worries, I was only slightly miffed that DH was drinking beer in an evening and I was nursing Ice Tea wishing it was a cocktail :) The day after we got home I had my 12w scan.

Good luck and enjoy your holiday

Thank you so much everyone.
I think my minds pretty much made up - from internet reading and these answers, hopefully I will have a doctors appointment before that time to further put my mind at rest! And I reckon like you, travelmad, I will most likely have my 12 weeks scan on return! If not just before.
Last year I went to Greece after the flight, and during the week there, and after the flight home, I had the most swollen ankles in the whole world, had never happened before so I guess that's a worry, will just have to plan on drinking a lot more water and moving about a lot more on the plane? Worst circulation.
I do think me and my partner need the break, and am excited, and we haven't had a holiday together so I think its important we get one in!
I think my nausea has just started today too. Will also make the most of wearing a bikini with slightly bigger boobs, my 32AA's are already looking much different! Grin Haha.

Thank you everyone xx

I'm off next week at 32 weeks - sleezy jet...

Buy your self plenty of water after security and keep nourished and hydrated - probably having some sun and a rest will do you both the world of good... at least thats what the midwife just told me this morning :-)

Have a wonderful time OP.

Hi there, I am 13 weeks and spent the 11th week on holiday in Belgium and France. Like you, we booked our holiday before I fell pregnant. I was a little apprehensive about going but we had a wonderful time and it was lovely to have a week just the two of us. I was pretty tired however, so most afternoons headed back to the hotel for a nap. My other advice would be to not order steak in a restaurant. I did, and had to send it back about three times until it was cooked all the way through! Other than that, you'll be fine x

I flew long haul at 20 weeks in first pregnancy. Was advised to get flight compression socks. I've never had swollen feet/legs from flying before, but if you've had it when not pregnant then I'd say definitely get the socks. Not the most attractive things, but I just wore them under my trousers. Also lots of water and walk around every hour on the flight.

Urglewurgle · 09/05/2017 18:23

You'll be fine, we went to Tenerife at 5 weeks, Disneyland Paris at 6 weeks and just been to Rhodes at 20 weeks.

Take it easy, move around on the plane, drink water, be aware your skin might be more sensitive to the sun (I just had my 20 week scan on a peeling tummy), take pregnancy safe versions of stuff you might need - we struggled to get insect repellent and bite cream we could be sure was OK, indigestion tablets, paracetamol.

I'd give some serious thought to paying for a private scan if yours isn't scheduled in for before you go, just for peace of mind. But otherwise have a lovely time!

Urglewurgle · 09/05/2017 18:25

On the plus side, we saved an absolute fortune with me not drinking!

ashaj92 · 10/05/2017 16:18

Definitely go!! We just got back from 5 nights in Corfu (I was 13-14weeks) and it was the best thing we could have done.
My job is very physically demanding and I didn't realise how much I needed the rest until we had it. Make the most of being able to have the break just the two of you whilst you still can x
Also.. definitely try on all your bikinis beforehand..my boobs have already increased 2 sizes so nothing fitted me! 😂

ashaj92 · 10/05/2017 16:20

Just to add - we did actually have a private scan before we went because I was feeling anxious and the NHS one still hadn't come through by 12 weeks. Wasn't cheap but I felt a lot better for it x
