TTC whilst still breastfeeding - any advice?

DH and I have decided we'd like to TTC. I'm currently still breastfeeding my DD who is 9 months.
I'm now in my second cycle. First cycle was 62 days which was not usual for me, although I wasn't expecting things to go back to normal straight away.
Anyone else in the same boat or had experience of this?
Any advice welcome - TIA

Plenty of people get pregnant while bf. Not me though! I started trying for DD2 when DD1 was 12 months. Ovulated like clockwork (according to clearblue tests) but still not pregnant a year later. Gave up bf at this point and fell pregnant 3 months later.

I was wondering whether to bother with OPK's or just see how things go. Can I ask, did your cycle go back to 'normal' for you?
I want to carry on breastfeeding for the time being, I'm not ready to stop yet.

Hi Sharky, I'm still bf DS 28m and conceived when he was 25m. My periods didn't return till he was 23m and decided to wait till then to start ttc. I didn't use opks, though cycles were irregular. Prior to DS periods had been fairly regular. I only had 3 periods once af returned and cycles were 33 days and then 49 days, though from 12 weeks scan looks like the cycle I conceived on must have been a more normal length as 11+5. Hopefully you can continue to bf and conceive. I conceived DC2 whilst breastfeeding 14month old DS, but my periods came back when DS was only 3 months old. I just tracked my most fertile days with ovulation sticks. It took us 2 months. DS self-weaned when I was about 8/9 weeks pregnant (he got very upset on the breast, I think my hormones changed the taste of my milk) which is a shame because I was hoping to tandem feed them both.

I conceived whilst breastfeeding a 14 month old. I also have never had a regular cycle (anywhere between 10 days and 6 months is normal for me) and it isn't clear when I actually ovulate in all this.

I'm now 29 weeks in and still breastfeeding (although pregnancy hormones and breast tenderness are making this challenging).

As it's still early days for you perhaps take a relaxed approach initially as things settle down? Your body may still be getting back to normal after your first pregnancy.

Conceived when breastfeeding DS who was 9mo. I never got my period back.

We decided to TTC for #2 when DS was 6mo thinking that it will take ages due to me breastfeeding our DS since I also didn't have any periods. But fell pregnant after 3 months.
