I have only felt small flutters and not as strong or consistent as previously. I have my 20 week scan on Monday. Is it normal to not feel it all the time at this stage?

I'd say it's worth calling your midwife to put your mind at rest but 20 weeks is still very early to few much. They monitored me for reduced movement at 26 weeks but doubt they'd do so before that. The midwife said even at that point the baby is very small and we could hear movements on the monitor that I couldn't feel!
I'm sure everything will be fine but sometimes reassurance from your midwife is the best thing.

I was monitored for reduced movements at 21 weeks with my first and there was a problem uncovered. If you have a pattern, possibly best to get any change from pattern checked out.

Agreed that it is best to get checked if you are at all unsure.

However at 20 weeks, I would sometimes feel baby much much less, if not at all and that's because they are still small, have lots of room and I also have an anterior placenta. Midwives generally advise that patterns emerge more consistently after 24 weeks ish I think.

It is unlikely there is a problem but as a previous poster has mentioned, change in movements can indicate one so give midwife a call.

At 20 weeks the baby is still small enough that it can be in a different position so that you don't feel the movements so much. At 20 weeks I was only feeling sporadic movements, no pattern by then.

BUT I would suggest you phone for advice. You'll probably be asked to go in, but best to check than worry all weekend?
