Ive just had a call form the hospital, the nuchal scan was all good BUT the nuchal blood test result came back 1 in 140, but they went on about other things like age, ethnic and other such things that effect the chances.
The choices now are invasive teat or private NIPT blood test. My heads spinning and help please......

Hi, I'm sorry you're in this situation, I had a 1:145 result last year, after a normal NT scan, it was my bloods that were affecting the result. I opted for NIPT, i didn't want to go straight to invasive testing. It took a week to get the results through. Before we made that choice we met the screening midwife in person to discuss everything, hopefully you will have that option too, it helped to get things clear in my head. I hope you get the answers you need, whichever route you go for, the waiting and not knowing is horrible.

my iron count is low will that distort it?

No that won't distort it. It uses fetal DNA present in maternal blood. I've used it twice. If you choose Harmony (there are different brands of nipt) results are now back in less than a week (as the bloods are tested in the UK). It's very accurate and easy

It's tough I know. But remember: Odds of 1:140 are actually very much in your favour. On that basis I'd opt for the NIPT. We recently had the harmony test, the wait was about 8 days - that included the Easter weekend, which was impressive I thought.
