So worried! Spotting and scan says 5 weeks when I'm 6! Any success stories

I thought I was 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant but went for an early scan today as I've been spotting since Sunday and was told it looked more like 5. They could see the yolk sac but not feral heart beat.

I've had two miscarriages and one quite recently so have been going out of my mind. Has anyone had dates that are a bit out and some spotting and gone on to a have a healthy pregnancy.

I am thinking the worst but trying to stay calm.

Sorry to hear you're going through this OP. I had spotting (and then red bleeding) at what I thought was 8 weeks, went to EPU for a scan and they said I was just over a week behind at 6+6. Thankfully I'm now 18 weeks and all's looking good. Fingers crossed you have good news when you go back xx

Mammabear31 · 06/05/2017 08:23

I'm going through exactly this now too OP. Started having brown spotting on Thursday, went for scan st EPU and saw a sac but nothing in it....told to rest for 7 days, go back for a scan then and either my dates are wrong or it's a loss. We can worry together Flowers

Just wanted to say, I didn't have spotting but I was measuring about a week behind, so when I went at 6 weeks they said I was only 5 and all we could see was a yolk sac, then at 7 weeks they said I was only 6weeks they did internal and we heard the heartbeat, once I got to 12 weeks baby suddenly started measuring bigger. At every scan from then on I was told he would be big ( he was 7lb 2 and two weeks early) X

I had this and all was well. Went for a scan at 6+1 and they could see an embryo measuring more like 5 weeks, no heartbeat. Went back a week later (still bleeding and had lost a huge blood clot over the weekend between scans!) and there she was, measuring perfectly by my dates at 7+1 with a heartbeat. I'm currently feeding her, so it all turned out pretty well! Good luck.

Hope you have a better outcome than me @shiva83. Currently miscarrying at home.

I'm praying that you have a more positive ending. Flowers

Yes I had exactly the same as you with my daughter, she's 3 and a half now. Had brown spotting at 6+ weeks, all they could see on the scan was a sac, nothing else and said I was no more than 5 weeks. I panicked until the 12 week scan but she was there and measured 11 weeks. She was born a week early, my scan dates are a week off this time too and my DS1 was 10 days early. I hope it all goes well for you and that the dates are just conflicting. x

I'm really sorry it's not better news, my doctor prescribed me progesterone the day after the scan on Thursday but it was too late I started to miscarry that evening. I'm so upset as this is now my 3rd miscarriage and 2nd this year. Mammabear im so sorry this is happening too you too, please feel free to contact me if you want to chat and thanks to everyone else for your positive stories, it's always good to hear that it works out for some.

So sorry to hear this Shiva38. I too had three miscarriages in a row so I know how devastating it can be. Thankfully I then went on to have 2 beautiful little girls, my first is 4 and my second is just 6 months. So please don't give up hope as there is every chance you will go on to have a healthy baby. If you want to message me to ask anything about what happens after you've had a third miscarriage, for example, tests that can be run etc please do. Sending you hugs xx

I'm so sorry to hear that @Cati482 but nice to hear there was a happy ending. Did you have your miscarriages before your girls or in between? I had one in 2013 then went on to have a little boy in 2015 who is now 16 months, I have since had a miscarriage this Jan and last week again so am really hoping they will do some further investigations and any input would be amazing thank you. Congrats on your little girl.

So sorry it's bad news! Keep trying! xxx

Cati482 · 10/05/2017 23:55

Hi Shiva. I had three in a row before having my first daughter. My second daughter was conceived without any problems. I was referred to the fertility clinic after my third miscarriage to see if there was an underlying cause for them. They checked my FSH hormone level, did a detailed pelvic scan to rule out any physical problems, took blood to test for blood clotting disorders as they can sometimes cause issues, and they did a karotype on mine and my partners blood to see if there were any genetic problems. Thankfully all the tests came back normal, but even if they did find something there are treatments available that can increase the chances of the pregnancy being successful, such as taking baby asprin. Most if the time they don't find anything wrong as it's just down to bad luck. I really hope your able to heal from this soon and as pp's have said, when you feel ready, just keep trying. Sending hugs xxx

Shiva83 · 11/05/2017 19:31

Thanks @Cati482 for giving me some hope, just goes to show that if it's a healthy pregnancy it will stick.
