Heart palpitations in early pregnancy?

Ever since I found out I was pregnant I keep getting heart palpitations. I get them countless times a day.

Is that a normal part of being pregnanct? I don't remember having that with my previous pregnancies.
I'm just over 5 weeks.

I'm ten weeks and still have them occasionally. Started at 5 weeks and peaked around 7/8 weeks. Horrible feeling xx

I had them last week I'm 21 weeks now I woke up at 4am and felt like I couldn't breathe 😢 I now get it now and then, I found an app called Headspace which helped a lot and a nice bath and something else to focus on. It's normal apparently unless it's constant then you should get checked out. It is a horrible feeling though xx

I don't get on with headspace. Plus I'm totally chilled and not stressed or anxious at all.

What about your iron levels? Could those be low? Or maybe another nutrient. Am sure another poster will be better informed.

I had this with both pregnancies, ended up having to ecg and wearing a heart monitor for some of pregnancy. Best thing to reduce/eliminate them was to cut out caffeine. I have always had heart palpitations since I was around 9/10 years old though but they massively increased in pregnancy. I was also low in iron during pregnancy.

I always have low iron. Perhaps I should buy some supplements.
I've cut right back on caffeine, I actually wondered if that had something to do with it! But it's a been a couple of weeks now.

I was prescribed iron tablets whilst pregnant I think around 20 weeks. Speak to your GP or midwif did you have an appointments coming up soon.

If you need supplements for iron spatone is really good. Easy to take in and doesn't bung you up. I had palpitations too due to anaemia. Drinking lots of caffeine could be because you're trying to make up for the tiredness. One trick to give you an idea of your iron levels is to pull your lower eyelid out and check the colour. Pale? Possibly low on iron so get checked.
