Reduced movements 35 weeks.

I'm 35 weeks today and have been noticing reduced/weaker movements over the last few days. He's been slowing down over the last couple of weeks and I mentioned it at my last consultant appointment, she said to keep an eye and call in if I get worried.

Thing is, I'm not sure if I'm worrying over nothing. My son was delivered 4 weeks early in 2010 due only to reduced movements ( he wasn't in distress) and was found at birth to have two major life changing defects, so I'm not sure if I'm flash backing to that as this one is a boy too.

He is moving just not as much or as strong as before.

Ring the maternity ward/midwife and speak to them. Better to get everything checked

ferriswheel · 30/04/2017 16:20

Get to the hospital now.

FoofFighter · 30/04/2017 16:21

Ring the ward and/or go straight in.

DuggeeHugs · 30/04/2017 16:23

Go and get checked today for your peace of mind if nothing else.

My midwife said she loves nothing better than when they check you out and there's nothing to worry about, so definitely don't let 'it might be nothing' put you off going Smile

Johno85 · 30/04/2017 16:23

I agree. Don't think. Just do. No one should worry about worrying too much about any change in movements. I'm 30 weeks and I wouldn't hesitate. Hope all is ok; keep us posted if you can x

CatTheMouse · 30/04/2017 16:27

I don't know if I'm just making a fuss. He is moving, so not sure if I'm just reading more into it because my past experience.

It never hurts to go in and get checked, especially if you've noticed reduced movement over the last few days. Advice is that you should never even wait one day to get checked out for any kind of reduced movement.

Ring them now and go in!

passthewineplz · 30/04/2017 16:32

Movements matter!

www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/symptom-checker/baby-moving-less/movements-matter
Any change in movements should be checked out.

Please go to hospital to be monitored.

Johno85 · 30/04/2017 16:33

cat in the nicest way stop looking for reassurance on here and call the people that matter.

NameChangeWimp · 30/04/2017 17:49

I've been in a few times for reduced movements and last week went in for increased movements. Deep down I knew I was over worrying, possibly even imagining it but I always think what if something is wrong and I regret not being checked. I've never been made to feel like a nuisance and they're always more than happy for me to go in. Everytime I end up apologising for wasting their time and they always tell me I've done the right thing and they'd be more annoyed to think of someone sitting at home worrying. Everything is probably fine but it's always best to get checked, if not only for peace of mind.

Skp87 · 30/04/2017 17:56

Please get checked, I did this when I was pregnant and it's nothing to worry about. They won't make you feel silly. Chances are you're ok but why take the risk? Go to your day assessment unit. Good luck x

JOMH1982 · 30/04/2017 18:08

Please get checked out xx

flumpybear · 30/04/2017 18:11

I'm sure the hospital would love to see you and tell you everything is fine .... so please ring and go asap - it won't hurt, and it's best to be absolutely sure if you're even a bit worried

FoofFighter · 30/04/2017 18:20

Really hope you've at least rung in OP.

I thought all midwives made it crystal clear nowadays to not ignore changes in movements.

Rockspin · 30/04/2017 18:29

I had reduced movement this week. Noticed it in the morning about 9.30am and had already got a midwife appointment scheduled for midday so went along and explained that I was feeling her moving but that it was less than usual (less movement/gentler movement/and I hadn't noticed any large kicks at all) she popped me on the monitor for 20 minutes and luckily all was well and actually she started to kick and move about loads - typically! But midwife stressed to ALWAYS call and report any change in movement no matter how trivial or on the fence you feel, so please give them a call OP.

GraceBlish · 30/04/2017 18:30

Did you go and get it checked?

flumpybear · 01/05/2017 07:11

Did you go OP? Hope you're ok 🌻

CatTheMouse · 01/05/2017 09:19

I didn't, DP couldn't come home from work and there was no one else to have the children. I've told him that I'll give it until lunch time today and go through if I still feel worried.

I'm totally conflicted as he is still moving, it's just more flutters and twitches than kicks and turns. It's only because of my previous experience that I'm even worried about it.

DuggeeHugs · 01/05/2017 10:09

Please go in Cat, don't wait for lunchtime - it'll put your mind at rest and nobody will think you're being anything but sensible, especially after your previous experiences Flowers

FoofFighter · 01/05/2017 10:30

Sorry to be harsh but ffs op!! Why do people do this?? And get random people worried for them on the internet, then disregard the advice anyway?? ESPECIALLY with your history!

Really hope you go in today, and that all is ok op. Flowers and disregard my shouting but I get pissed off as not every outcome is a happy one, sadly from a friend's experience

flumpybear · 01/05/2017 11:29

Pick up the phone and ring them now for advice ....

PirateQueenie · 01/05/2017 11:36

No offence but why even ask for advice on here and then blatantly disregard everyone's?! Im sorry to sound harsh but this is very irresponsible of you.

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 01/05/2017 11:57

don't know if I'm just making a fuss. He is moving, so not sure if I'm just reading more into it because my past experience

And you have no way of answering that by sitting at home.
Go in and have baby's wellbeing checked.
In half of all uk stillbirths there had been reduced movements before baby died which were either not reported or not acted upon.
Yes sometimes it is nothing, but that's a conclusion to reach after having an assessment, not before.

harverina · 01/05/2017 13:26

Your describing quite a significant change. I would 100% go in to be checked for this. Please don't take any chances, a quick check up will put your mind at ease

CatTheMouse · 01/05/2017 14:25

My mother can take me through after she finishes work. I have no other option but to wait until then. He's moved a little more this morning but the movements still feel weaker.
