I'm 35 weeks today and have been noticing reduced/weaker movements over the last few days. He's been slowing down over the last couple of weeks and I mentioned it at my last consultant appointment, she said to keep an eye and call in if I get worried.

Thing is, I'm not sure if I'm worrying over nothing. My son was delivered 4 weeks early in 2010 due only to reduced movements ( he wasn't in distress) and was found at birth to have two major life changing defects, so I'm not sure if I'm flash backing to that as this one is a boy too.

He is moving just not as much or as strong as before.

Just got home. Checked baby, and scanned me briefly, but will do another more detailed scan this week. No immediate problems noted, but they said if it continues they'll likely admit me for further monitoring and perhaps bring my section forward.

Could've done without falling off the end of the bed and landing in a heap, really jarred my back! Thank you so much everyone for all your support and advice. Smile

Yay. Great news. Well done for getting checked, it was obvious you were having a little dilemma with yourself. X

How you getting on OP?

CatTheMouse · 05/05/2017 19:15

Thank you for thinking of me. Smile

Was back again today. Felt quite patronised by one of midwives who insisted on picking my hands up and putting them on my tummy to 'show' me how to feel baby moving 'properly.' Saw the doctor and got quite tearful as I just reached a point of 'had enough.' I felt like I was wasting everyone's time. She's booked me in to see the consultant next week and if still getting reduced movements they'll look at bringing the section forward. Just felt like I was being silly worrying despite my concerns after what happened in my previous pregnancy. I know everything is very likely to be fine but I still can't help being concerned.

It's so hard, all these posters and videos and websites telling you that you should never ignore a change in movement. Then some midwives, who are meant to reassure you, make you feel like a total pest when you ring them. I feel you OP I really do. And as if that's not enough everywhere you look there seems to be people talking about stillbirth.

I'm 36 weeks and I've never been able to figure out a pattern of movement. Kicks count and similar campaigns although obviously they do great work leave me frantic with worry. My whole third trimester has been ruled by anxiety about movement and fear of potential loss.

I remember you haveacupoftea. Smile
You posted on a thread I had last October when I had a huge bleed at 6 weeks. We were only a week or so apart due date wise. We're nearly there!

I think because this is when my little boy was delivered early ( this one is another boy) that I'm just more aware of anything going wrong this time. Also 5 days before my c section date is the date I had a termination last year. The thought of being in a operating theatre again is bringing all that back up.

I'm sorry to hear you are also anxious at this point, it's so hard to put out of our minds. Especially as we're meant to be looking forward to getting closer to having the baby. All it takes is one dismissive medical professional and your confidence in being concerned just evoporates. Sad

I wish you all the best with the rest of your pregnancy and with your little one. Smile

Glad everything worked out ok for you after that scary start! It has been a long hard old slog hasn't it! My pregnancy has been high risk with GD and polyhydramnios hence the worrying. But my God we and our babies made it through those early days and we can make it through this last stretch as well. Positive mental attitude...let's smash this last month Grin
