Hi All - had my 20 week scan and very relieved all is well! It does have long legs at the moment, which we are not in any way worried about, but wonder whether anyone else had this, and whether it meant a tall baby/child or whether it tends to even out - just out of interest! Has anyone else had experience of this?

no experience, but wanted to say be grateful it doesn't have a freakishly large head like ds1 did - and like ds2 (am 21wks pg) also has

would opt for long legs rather than big head when it comes to delivery

the midwife commented on dd3s long legs at her 20 week scan

she is a titch now with little sturdy fat legs

I think its just something they say tbh

JackieNo · 12/03/2007 13:57

I was just about to say exactly the same as Tutter - better long legs than a big head.

newby29 · 12/03/2007 13:58

lol thanks tutter! I did think would rather it was large at that end!!!

We were told and saw during the scan that DD had long legs. She ended up being a small and slim baby, but now at 17 months she is very much above the average height and is growing out of her clothes sized 18-24 months. Baby No2 also has long legs (just had our 20 wk scan), will be interesting to see if he/she turns out the same.

tubismybub · 12/03/2007 15:01

yup long legs big head here too! Was a very long baby

cinnamontam · 12/03/2007 15:10

Hey there - I'm interested as well to see what people have to say as my little one (now 29 weeks) had very long legs at the 20 week scan but then DH is 6 foot 8 and I'm above average height so I guess that figures. I'll let you know when she comes out whether the legs remained long

First thing I asked DH's mum when i found out i was preggers was what was his head circumference!!! She couldn't remember damnit

fryalot · 12/03/2007 15:12

dd1 very long legs on scan, when born, very loooong baby. She was always very, very tall for her age - at 2, I was being told off by policemen for keeping her off school. Anyway, she's 13 now, and is just about the same size as most of her class. Don't know whether she will be a tall adult, but she was a VERY tall child.

newby29 · 12/03/2007 16:09

thanks for your respsones!

the odd thing for us is that I am 5'4" and DH is no more than 5'8"!!!! so we are very surprised at the possibility of having a tall dc!!!!!!!!!!

both me and dd1's dad smaller than average. I assume she'll be a reasonably sized adult.

jabuti · 12/03/2007 16:47

thats absolutely bizarre. i had to ask my husband twice if he hadn't post this one!!!!

we just had our 20 week scan and were talking about the long legs our baby seems to have too!!!!! we are both very tall... lets see when the baby is out in this world!

Jamantha · 12/03/2007 17:29

We were told told long legs too. And big tum but smallish head. Smallish head definitely sounds good to me. My boss reckons that with those proportions I'm carrying a frog!

cinnamontam · 14/03/2007 00:54

Hey Jamantha - we also got told, smallish head, big tum and loooooong legs

Jamantha · 14/03/2007 06:11

hi cinnamontam - when're you due? Be interesting to see what we get on the day.

cinnamontam · 15/03/2007 16:39

I'm due May 27th and will definitely let you know how accurate the 20 week scan was. Keep me posted too

Aloha · 15/03/2007 16:39

They said my dd had short legs, but I could clearly see them and they were long. She has long legs now, aged two.

kellogs · 15/03/2007 19:41

At mt 20 week scan my bump was measuring 3 weeks above my due date & was above average on the charts. At my 28 week check today he's still measuring above average. I'm starting to poo my pants cos my first son was measured above average & was born 10lb 8oz.
