thinking of june 30th - but is it mad to go for a weekend only 3 weeks before my edd?

worried that the weather won't be up to it if we go much earlier into june

(ds1 was born on time - well, 3 days early)

Hi Tutter.. sounds like a good idea to me,, as long as you have lots of people to help out..

My dh has decided that we are going to be having bbqs all through the summer.. to which I said "fine aslong as you dont expect me to run around sorting everything out on the days".. ( due 15July first scan.. 23rd July las t scan!!!)

oh hi 2+1

yes, we'll get people in to cater and tidy up, so that side of things not an issue - more the point about risking the baby coming early i suppose. or me being too fat to enjoy myself/wear anything other than a bin bag

wear some nice linen trousers or skirt with a ligh breezy top.. you will look fab..
( when pg with ds i used to get into friends paddling pools with my linen trousers on then sit on the patio at the table and dry off

You will be able to enjoy yourself.... think of things to do that wont take too much out of you.. playing little games etc....

if you are getting people in then I wouldnt stick to that date. Find something nice and floaty to wear and let people pamper you for the day.

TheOriginalXENA · 12/03/2007 14:25

Oh I'd go for it too. A fabulous outfit etc. baby won't be early (famous last words )

Tutter · 12/03/2007 14:26

wurlywurly, you think i should go for an earlier date?

sorry Typo, stick to the date you originarly picked.

My only concern about any date before your EDD is that you'll have everyone bloody asking when you're due, how you are feeling etc etc!!! (which of course is very nice of them, but I found it a PITA!)

I think the timing is good - 3 weeks before I bet you'll be getting really fed up with the wait, so it will be nice to have something to occupy yourself. Plus, as mentioned before, you can get everyone to wait on you hand and foot.
AND - because the baby will be pretty cooked by then you could even indu;ge in a Pimms or two!!!

Would agree with Waynetta in that it will probably be nice to have something to focus on (other than the baby) at that late stage.

I think the last weeks tend to drag (certainly did for me last time as DS1 was 2 weeks late !) and so the chance to mooch around looking for a lovely outfit and organise catering etc would be a lovely distraction.

Of course the baby may come early but chances are, not 3 weeks before (famous last words). Anyway, if baby was early everyone would totally understand if you were either not in attendance or the party was cancelled.

It was suggested (when DS1 was late last time) that that standing around at a party drinking champagne was a reliable way of bringing on labour however I never put it to the test so perhaps you could give it a try if all too much by that stage.
