"How is 'bump'?" What do you say?!

After the usual morning school run formalities, I'm asked EVERY day by the same parent how 'bump' is doing and I'm really struggling with what to say!! My usual responses of 'good thank you' or 'wiggling away nicely' don't seem to be enough for this person, which is getting quite frustrating as I don't really know what else to say!

This is my 2nd DC, so at the moment I haven't seen the midwife for quite a few weeks and don't have much more of an update!

Has anyone else experienced anyone constantly asking about the progress of their pregnancy? What do you to someone who's so over-invested?! I don't mean to sound horrible, I'm just at a loss at being asked the same question every single day by the same person! Grin

Yes! I'm 31 weeks with my 2nd and also get asked this all the time and also find I don't have a lot more to say than, "Fine... Moving a lot!" They then look at me like, "Aaaaand?" What am I supposed to do, pop in and check?!

Not sure if I've got any helpful suggestions on what to say as I also struggle... MIL in particular likes to ask this far more than she ever asks how I'm doing, but that's a whole other rant Grin

"Bumping along nicely thanks!" and when that isn't enough for people (it should be!) I tend to expand with "not long to go now, still got a lot to sort out!" or something equally empty of information! xx

I'm 28 weeks with a very obvious bump, but luckily I don't get asked constantly!! I would find that very annoying (I get they mean well, but I mean, what do they expect!?).

When asked about how the little one is doing I usually say 'moving lots' or I say that the bump is 'ever expanding' but honestly, if the same person was asking me the same question every day, I'd give them the same answer every day!

Haha oh I'm so glad this isn't just happening to me!! It gets very akward sometimes. I do think about saying "hold on while I just take a little look at him through this hatch in my stomach"!! But I think that'd be a bit cruel!

I'm 29 weeks, thank goodness we don't have too much longer to endure the endless questions. Although I'm sure it'll soon turn into the dreaded "have you had that baby yet?"!!!

Oh, the first and last time anyone asked that (that was when I was around 12 weeks and I'm now 23) I said 'Well, it doesn't talk to me yet, so I assume it's fine.' She's stuck to 'how are you' since then.

Stupid question, how am I supposed to know? It's alive and kicking, that's the only thing I know.

I remember this well from my recent pregnancy (8 weeks ago) in the end I took to saying 'same as yesterday, still in there' with a smile so it didn't come across as blunt and frustrated as I felt, they soon got the idea though x

I know this can be frustrating but it's just what people do lol. I hate getting asked how far along are you, what are you having, when are you due ect. I wouldn't change it though after all things could be a lot worse than someone asking you the same question everyday.

Just say the same thing every time: "great thanks, how's yourself?" Treat it as a passing enquiry like a good morning or a rhetorical question. Don't overthink it or look like you're actually answering with any depth whatsoever.

I get comments like this from people on my course. It seemed odd to me as I don't even know their name and see them for an hour each fortnight, but my Mum pointed out that they're just trying to be nice and I should just smile and say 'fine thanks'.

Twenty one weeks here, and I'm studying with a lady who is (imo) disproportionately excited about my pregnancy - to the point of going and telling our lecturer about it. I just say something vague or "Oh, we're getting on with clothes shopping" or similar.

People in shops etc have been asking me 'so how have you been keeping?' I don't know what to say.. I don't think they really want to know I'm struggling to get my blood sugars under control, I'm driving myself half mad obsessing about movement, my tits feel like they've been hit with a bat and baby's head is halfway down my fanjo. So I just say fine thanks and then there's an awkward silence Confused
