Hi

I need help! I have just found out I am pregnant (about 4 weeks) and this is my first pregnancy. I contacted the doctor today who told me that I need to get directly in touch with the hospital. I only moved down this way two years ago and don't have a clue which hospitals are better than others. Can anyone recommend a hospital or suggest a hospital to avoid?

Thanks

You haven't said what area you're in?

I would recommend telling us where you are and getting recommendations based on people's experiences there.

Ah sadly I am not in that area so can't help. I am sure someone will be a long in a bit.

I'm not too far from you and I'm at the Royal Free. Purely because I'd used them before for other (non pregnancy related) things and have always had a good experience there. I had to go to the labour ward a few weeks ago as they wanted to check I wasn't in early labour (I wasn't thank goodness) but I was seen straight away by a lovely midwife and obstetrician and straight on a bed. We did a labour ward tour the other week and it was clean and had a good atmosphere. That's the only recommendation I have re hospitals! UCLH was another option but it's too central and not easy to get to! X

Thanks loads for your advice. Really helpful as I had no clue! I know where to go or avoid in Nottingham but I think that might be too far to drive when I go into labour! X

I live near Northolt. Hillingdon maternity has improved over the years. Northwick Park is meant to be okay. I went to the Queen Charlotte (East Acton) which was fantastic! Depends how far you want to travel
