Yes you can but i think they recommend not eating too much because of the mercury levels or something.

hillary · 11/03/2007 20:47

Yes - I think you have to limit the amount to one or two portions per week due to the mercury content (I think) but tuna is very good for you, although I ate alot of fresh tuna steak when I was pregnant - that and pork chops!

Yes, you can. No more than a couple of cans a week or a couple of fresh portions.

Just don't eat it every day like I did (what can I say - I had cravings for Pret a Manger salad nicoise!)

I have eaten loads of prawns and scallops - thought as long as fresh and well cooked would be fine ...

octopussyintummy · 11/03/2007 20:51

Is there any other fish that PG women should avoid? I love salmon is this okay?

hillary · 12/03/2007 19:13

I think you're supposed to avoid Shark, but Salmon's fine

SweetyDarling · 12/03/2007 19:22

Fresh and well cooked seafood is fine in all the books I have!?

SweetyDarling · 12/03/2007 19:23

Shellfish I mean...

Hillbilly · 13/03/2007 11:36

What about smoked mackerel? I'm loving it at the moment and make pate by mixing it with cream cheese. Really missing sushi, oysters and prawns.

Hillbilly · 13/03/2007 11:37

Yes, I guess well cooked shellfish should be ok shouldn't it? So oysters still off the menu then!!!!

conkertree · 13/03/2007 14:07

I keep reading different things in different books, but am still eating prawns as long as they are cooked. Am avoiding cooked mussels just cause they tend to be harder to spot if there is something wrong with them, but not sure if I read that or not.
