Since Friday I have had really bad lower back pain and then yesterday I developed an upset stomoach or it could be my IBS coming back.

I am 12+2 and since finding out i was pregnant my IBS has disappeared. I am really worried as my friend told me that with all of her M/C these were the first 2 symptoms. I had a scan at 10+4 and everything was fine but I am really panicking now.

Has anyone else had any experience of this and what do you think?

Nicki, back pain is also a symptom of pg and an upset stomach isn't only a symptom of m/c. You could just have eaten something which upset you or like you say your IBS could be back.

If the symptoms are there / worse tomorrow I'd call my GP and ask for a referral to the EPU for another scan to put your mind at rest.

Know it's difficult, but try not to worry.

Thank you I am hoping I am just panicking but it is whenever I eat anything that it sets my stomach off.

Could it just be morning sickness? (The "morning" part is a misnomer - it can happen any time or all the time)

Nicki10 · 11/03/2007 20:27

It's not sickness though!

I'm 12+1 and I've had excruitiating back ache for the last two days as well as suffering from severe morning sickness for the past month or so. I remember I had a really bad back ache with both my other 2DC. I think it really depends on the person, every pg is different but if you're worried it might be worth a trip to your GP.

I'm sure your friend means well but every mc is different in the same way that every pg is different. I have had 2 m/c's and both were different. This is my 5th pg and it is different from all the others.

Take care and hope all goes well xoxo

(btw, I'm sitting with a lavender 'hot wotta bottle' thingy that you warm in the microwave on my back - is there anything you can use like that?).

back pain...very common in pregnancy, as all your hormones are rushing around loosening all the ligaments and your muscles are stretching

also, can sometimes be a symptom of a UTI

re upset tummy-- there are several bugs going around, you might have one. Keep replenishing your fluids..water, herb or fruit tea and juices....

sounds like pregnancy niggles and a bug IMO, if you are really concerned call your midwife or GP to be checked out

Thank you Lulumama it's always so reassuring when you come on and say you think it's all fine.

I have one of those lavender heat up pillows too Purplelostprincess but i didn't know we were allowed to use them! Great I'm off to heat mine up now!
