Sleeping arrangements in your room?

What are everyone's recommendations for what the baby should sleep in within your bedroom please?

We are getting a cot bed for the nursery but read so many mixed reviews about cribs etc for when they are in your bedroom at the beginning.

What is everyone planning on doing or has done in the past? I am a first-time Mum so this is all very new to me!

For the first few months a Moses basket or co-sleeper. We used a Moses basket next to the bed but in hindsight a co-sleeper would have been better.
When DD grew out of the Moses basket she was in a travel cot in our room until 6 months when she went into her cotbed in her own room. We didn't have the space for the cotbed in our room, if we did then she would have been in that rather than the travel cot.

The cot won't fit in our room, so we have opted for a moses basket to start with and we will reassess what to do when they outgrow it. I hadn't thought about a travel cot, that might be a good option for us when they have outgrown the basket. Also by having the cot in their own room to begin with I'm hoping they might have some of the day time naps in there (plus I'm planning to feed in there too, as no room for a chair in our room either) so it isn't too different when they make the move to the cot and own room overnight.

2nd time mum here and we are getting the Chicco next to me this time. Moses baskets don't last, especially if you have big babies!

We borrowed a crib from friends for our bedroom and used that until DS went into his own room at 6 months. Found lots of peace of mind from him sleeping in our room for at least 6 months and lovely to save money on not having to buy a crib.

SIL leant us DNiece's Moses basket for the living room for DS to nap in, but he outgrew it by about 3 months so I wouldn't recommend buying one!

We had borrowed a crib for our room and a Moses basket for downstairs. DS was a very long baby & had grown out of the Moses basket by 8 weeks so I'm pleased we had the crib so he could be in our room a bit longer. Planning on doing the same this time too.

We had a crib too as lots of babies I knew grew out of a moses basket quickly. All 3 were in it until 6 months then went to their own room.

We had a snuzpod and then cot. Moses baskets are a bit small and look a bit unsteady to me.

I used a moses basket for the first 8 weeks and my ds outgrew it so we moved/squeezed his cotbed into our room. Next time I'd skip the moses basket and just get a crib.

We started off with a chicco next to me and then at three months we decided to bedshare. We researched all the safe sleeping guidelines and rearranged our bed so that it was appropriate. It is awesome.

Crib for us with rolled up towels under the sheet to give a more snug feeling. Baby is 4.5 months now and close to outgrowing but it's more for feel so hopefully the transfer to cot will be smooth.

DD1 had a Moses basket and a small cot in our room then a corned inner room. We co slept DD2 we didn't bother just coslept from the start, we find it massively more convenient for night feeds

Dc1 we had a moses basket which we moved each morning into the lounge. She was in it til 6mo.

Dc2 we had a crib in the bedroom and a Tiny Love 3 in 1 Napper in the lounge. Both lasted til ds was 8mo.

Ds1 Moses basket and then cotbed squeezed in, own room at 8 months when we moved from a one bed flat.

DD Moses basket then own room about 10 weeks when she outgrew it.

Ds2 Moses basket for a few weeks and then co slept until age 2 the whole night and until he was 4 he would still come in during the night.

We had a Moses basket in our room, think he slept in this till around 3 months (he would fidget so much the whole thing shook), we then moved him into the cotbed. We had to move our wardrobes out to fit the cotbed in.
We moved house when he was 6 months old and he went into his own room straight away. If we had stayed in the old house he would have been transferred to his own room at 6 months. By that stage we were sick of him farting at 2 in the morning

We've been given a Moses basket so baby will be in that until it outgrows it and then into the cotbed.
Well that's hopefully what will happen, I'm sure baby will decide what it wants to do when it arrives!

Planning on using a co-sleeper crib next to us for the first 6 months, and then into a cot in the nursery.

What I haven't worked out is what to do for downstairs naps. I'm reluctant to fork out for a Moses basket as they are outgrown so quickly (what do people do from say 3-6 months once the basket is outgroen but before they can nap alone?!). I also don't want to keep lugging the crib up and down stairs.

I suspect we might end up investing in a Sleepyhead, but reluctant to pay that much out just yet.

We have a Chicco Next to Me Bed but when my ds was tiny he wouldn't settle in it, too much space. He settled much better in a moses basket but outgrew that by about 8 weeks. He loves his Next to Me Bed now at 12 weeks. So I'd say get the cheapest Moses Basket you can find as they don't last long and then Next to Me Bed.

We've just bought this for in our room. DD1 - carrycot from travel system (approved for overnight sleeping) till ahe outgrew it at 4 months old then went in her own room.

DD2 - tried the carrycot but she wouldn't settle in it so we've bought the Chicco next2me and love it! It will definitely last the full 6 months as it's huge.
