hi there, I woke up in the night with a rotten blinding headache (I never get headacxhes) think could be braxton hicks... it wore off after a couple of mins but was back in 30 mins, and now I just have a back ache/ pelvis ache that won't go away and my bump has a niggly pain as well.

am itching loads hands, feet, all over -but have been for two weeks now.

am due next week, is it just body bgetting ready or the real deal... any advice vv welcome

if your head is bad, and you are having any visual disturbances, and / or swelling of hands, feet , face..then call labour ward....

sounds like you are getting ready for the real deal, the last few weeks of pregnancy are hard going !

try to rest and look after yourself if you can..

lulumama · 10/03/2007 11:29

have you mentioned the itching to the midwife?

PeachyClair · 10/03/2007 11:31

Headache could be related to dehydration? Try drinking a pint of water? That could also be linked to the backache

But if the pain could also be described as abdominal pain, get the MW to check your Bp (today, anyting else won't do) as maybe, just maybe they could be pre-eclampsia warning signs.

Its probably, as Lulu said just your body getting ready but its never worth ignoring symptoms that could be warnings.

lulumama · 10/03/2007 11:32

exactly, peachy !

PeachyClair · 10/03/2007 11:32

And if you have more than one of these also chat to the MW about obstetric cholestasis if she ahsnt checked alread

itching that generally begins or is most intense on the arms, legs, palms of the hands and soles of the feet
itching that's usually worse at night
problems sleeping
tiredness
poor appetite
nausea
jaundice or yellowing of whites of eyes and skin (uncommon

thanks lulumama you are such a star

told doc about 3/4 weeks ago about the itching and they did a blood test-all ok- and she told me to take some anti histamines which didn't work.

pain so bad in back can't actually sit down. need to walk about. plan to watch rugby all day, and dp is on red alert to rush back from work and help me with tens machine- have no idea when it should go on really

just listen to what your body tells you

try a bath..that often helps back pain...

good that your liver function tests are ok !

spongecake · 10/03/2007 11:42

i had pre-eclampsia and coz my bnp is normally so low a headache was the 1st sign. are you swollen?

PeachyClair · 10/03/2007 13:59

Just a thought but back pain can be a sign of kidney problems? Any chance you have a UTI?

Would get BP tested- pre-eclampsia can result in kidnet damage (sister is still on meds after 3 years- i was lucky to escapr the after efefcts)

lulumama · 10/03/2007 14:00

good point !

how are you feeling now, spongecake?

madmumNika · 10/03/2007 14:34

Just wanted to ditto the others, sudden headaches, visual disturbances, & abdominal pain can all be signs of pre-eclampsia. Please call your midwife or hospital and ask for a BP check and to check your urine for protein levels. PE can develop very suddenly and rapidly so try to get checked over today, for peace of mind if nothing else. I developed PE very suddenly with DS and realise now how easy it is for symptoms to be missed or mis-diagnosed.

Thinking of you and hoping these are just signs of your body getting ready for the 'real thing'!

Let us know how you get on! Big hugs & hope you feel more comfortable soon xxx

thanks for all the advice and support....i have been asleep since midday... i feel so tired but if anything else happens or my headache comes back i'll be calling the delivery suite to talk to a midwife.
