My results from the 12 weeks scan were;

Twin 1 - 1.1mm / 1:3914

Twin 2 - 1.3mm / 1:3674

The measurements sound ok to me, but was unsure how the odds sound. Not really worried, but just would like confirmation that these results are ok, please.

I'd say that seemed quite a low chance, think mine were 1 in nearly 9,000 but I'm only young! Risk increases with age, but I don't think that would place you in the at risk group. Don't know how twins affects results. Didn't your sonographer explain the results to you? I would of thought if they were concerned they would of highlighted it and advised you to have bloods and further tests?
Did you know it was going to be two babies in there? How exciting, congratulations!!

Great result smellymelly! Mine was 1 in 1663 which is apparently the same as the risk for an 18 year old (I'm 36) and I was told it was an excellent result. I just wish I was the same as an 18 year old in other ways.....

smellymelly I was 1 in 1200 (which was good for my age, the norm was about 1 in 350 I think for a 35 year old). It depends on your age - how old are you?

I was happy with 1 in 1200 must say.

smelly, they are great! Absolutely tiny odds of a problem, cant get better than that. I got a measurement of 2.6 and odds of 1:44. I refused an amnio so had to wait for my 20 wk scan this morning and even with my crappy odds everything looks great. Relax and enjoy ...........

smellymelly · 04/07/2004 20:23

I'm 31, and like I said not really too worried, just more interested than anything.

Can't have blood tests with twins, as they test the mother.

Thanks Samcj - yes we knew we were having twins from a 5 week scan, just starting to get used to the idea!

Sounds good to me. Did they not give you your average age risk to put it into context?

beansprout · 04/07/2004 20:33

These sound like great odds, fab news - and twins too! Congratulations!

Odds sounds good.

When I had DD I was 29 and the odds were 1:10000 or something like that. With this one (I'm 33) the odds are 1:1150. I was initially concerned as odds so much higher but tried to picture over one thousand babies - worked for me.

Must be so exciting to have seen them again at scan.

Amazingly good odds. You're not considered a risk until you're below 1:250 so you're miles away.
Also the measurements themselves are v good. Last time mine was 1.3 and my odds were over 1:1000 that time at 37.
This time was 1.1mm and I was told that was really small. Odds of 1:500 even though I'm nearly 41.
Congratulations.
