Pregnant after CS - is this normal?

I had a CS for my DD last feb and am now 10 weeks pregnant, so she was 11 months old when I got pregnant again.

I have had the normal cramping etc but have started getting shooting pains around my scar over the last couple of days. I am seeing the midwife next week for my booking in visit but wanted to know if anyone else had had this and gone on to have a VBAC or if it means there is a problem.....

any anecdotes gratefully receieved!

chirpygirl, not had a CS but I had my appendix out (open surgery) about a week before I got pregnant. I experienced the same kind of shooting pains at about the same point (10 weeks pg), but had been warned that this would happen and was completely normal. I am now 20 weeks pg and apart from the odd twinge it has almost completely settled down (though as I expand more in later weeks I am aware it might start hurting again). HTH!

I got pains as well early on in this PG and my last CS was six years ago

Yes, I got this as well and was told by the midwife it was normal. It's just the skin stretching, which is more sensitive where there's scar tissue. It only happened with me in the early stages - after the sixth month I don't remember it happening at all.

Thanks guys, we went to the beach as it is so nice and I had some more pains so it was nice to come back to lots of lovely reassuring messages!

It makes sense that is the scar stretching as it is about that stage but it still scared the bejeezus out of me!
