Has anyone else taken amoxicillin whilst pregnant doctor suspects a urine infection and has treated to be on the safe side but I'm petrified that taking amoxicillin will harm baby! I don't feel like I have an infection but when I went to the loo earlier it stung after but nothing since!! Tia x

I took this in the first trimester. Doc wouldn't prescribe if dangerous. It's more dangerous to leave a uti, as at it's worst it can cause kidney issues and miscarriage.

harleysmammy · 07/04/2017 18:02

I was on it when I was like 6 weeks because I had uti and I'm 37 weeks now. It's more dangerous to leave a uti x

I had three doses of it when I was expecting my first because of recurring uti's, and ds is a perfectly happy & health 4yr old now. It's much safer for baby to get an infection treated rather than let it fester.

I had 1500mg a day for 5 days last week at 21 weeks for a chest infection. Baby still alive.

BikeRunSki · 08/04/2017 14:32

I also took it at the same point in my first pg for the same reason. No ill effects to the baby.

MerlinsBeard87 · 08/04/2017 18:27

I took it at 11 weeks for a chest infection. Had my scan 2 weeks later, baby is good in there

Vanillaradio · 08/04/2017 20:43

I had it at 26 weeks for a chest infection. No ill effects on ds at all, he's now a healthy 3 year old. As others have said, it is more dangerous to the baby to leave an infection untreated.

I'm 9+5 currently and two days in to a week course of it for a UTI. The UTI was picked up by the midwife, so I'm sure it's okay.

Two days in and I feel human again for the first time in a couple of weeks. It's a miracle!

NeverAShadowOfDoubt · 08/04/2017 20:52

I had it at 7 weeks with twins for recurring UTI and my twins are now 13 weeks and fine 😊

wildone81 · 09/04/2017 12:23

Currently on amoxicillin and predisilinone (steroids) for a chest infection, at 26 weeks. Had a small moment of guilt when doctor prescribed them but without them I'd have been admitted and on oxygen so didn't really have much choice! Doctor assured me both where safe in pregnancy.

I know it's hard but trust your GP and concentrate on feeling better x

Having been near crippled with a UTI at 11 weeks pregnant, my device is to take the antibiotics! Penicillin is safe in pregnancy.

MrsJayy · 09/04/2017 12:36

Utis in pregnancy can be quite severe i got them and was on constant Antibiotics both pregnancy they are perfectly safe to take

iamreginaphalange · 09/04/2017 12:37

Same her as others ... chest infection and also strep B so had to have two lots in space of 6 weeks in first trimester.
All ok with baby.
Docs wouldn't give you it if it wasn't safe. 😉

I've just finished a 12 day course due to sinus infection. I couldn't have got through my virus without it.
I was 12+3 when I started the course

Thank you for your replies, I spoke to the doctor today and he said that there was no infection ( it was sent off for testing as came back positive in docs) but did have white and red blood cells in Urine, so to take the rest of antibiotics and be retested in a few days!! Xx
