How soon is too soon to buy pram?!

Hi everyone! I'm 17+4 and the pram I've had my eye on for a few weeks has got an extra 10% off this weekend which saves me about £70! I'm keen to buy it but have heard it's bad luck to buy the pram too early! How soon is too soon to buy pram or am I over thinking it? When did you all buy your prams? Any advice would be great! (FYI this will be the first thing we've bought)

I know mothercare do a thing were your warranty doesnt start until your due date.

I dont know if other retailers are the same but that is what would put me off buying it too soon.

Oh good work. I am just over 21 weeks and wasn't planning on buying the pram this early but kept looking out for deals so went for it when it was on. Why not, eh?!

Personally I'd wait until the 20 wk scan, it's the important one.

It's bought now but thank you for the comments Smile

That pram is lovely - just had to google it for a look! Love the tan leather handles. Good price as well.

For what it's worth, I bought my pram at the same point you're at - was well worth being organised as there was still plenty to sort out later on (babies room, clothes, hospital bag, etc). Plus baby could be early, you might not feel up to shopping later, etc.

Glad you got it. Smile exciting purchase!

WITH my first the pram was bought as soon as th pregnancy was confirmed! Excited grandparents lol it was kept elsewhere until the day after I had my son at 39+2 due to my mum being superstitious. THis time round, I'm 31+6, the pram was bought about 3 weeks ago and stored at my parents until Saturday when they decided to decorate so now it's in my sons room, still in the box, until im ready to use it. Which could be in 5 weeks if this little lady doesn't pile the lbs on!
Funnily enough it was my mum that insisted I don't have my pram until much later on both times, yet her who decided it was to come over here at the weekend! Confused

Why do you need to buy a pram for no. 2. What happened to no 1's pram.

I bought the oram at 35.3. DS1 arrived at 36.3! Time enough. There are always sales and discounts. But he is 22. I remember the lady in John Lewis telling me I had to buy all the accessories. The bag, the umbrella, the cosy toes, etc., because otherwise I might have to have plain or non matching ones if the pattern was discontinued (they were very patterned vile then). They did discontinue the pattern. Six months later I got the cosy toes and sunshade for half the price!! DS wouldn't have cared though Grin

Bought the crib, sheets, blankets, pram, car seat, 1x pack of vests, 1x pack of babygros, nappies etc during the week before I was booked in for my c-section!
Everything else was bought once baby was out.
Each to their own.

Mabel83 · 06/04/2017 21:41

Adding to the whole bad luck thing, I'm pg with my second baby and have my pram, car seat etc from DD, it's obviously in the house (well, loft) already. I was very superstitious first time and kept it at my parents but this time I've no choice unless I ship it all out of my loft into MIL 's

Funnyfarmer · 07/04/2017 08:12

I was just thinking that @Mabel
If your on your 2nd, 3rd or so on pregnancy than surly you would already have your pram and therefore it will be in the house. Is it just bad luck for the 1st?

RavioliOnToast · 07/04/2017 21:43

I believe the superstition stemmed from years and years ago when the parents wouldn't buy the pram until the baby was born, alive and well, as stillborn rates were so high and the pram was the most expensive thing to buy

RavioliOnToast · 07/04/2017 21:43

I've definitely read something like that somewhere anyway 😂

gemgems2214 · 08/04/2017 07:19

My mum got mine before my 12 weeks scan and its all up and covered over in my nans 😂😂 its my first baby and im only 22 weeks along now but mothers eh haha i wont look at it or touch it when i visit my nan but i feel better that its not in my house haha!! Go for it just store it somewhere else if you're superstitious like me ha

Is it too early to buy a stroller/carrycot/car seat. I'm 7+3 and my mum is purchasing it for us. We have fallen in love with one and it's on Groupon for £100 cheaper than anywhere else. Shall I go for it? I'm not superstitious😛
